Lancia Gamma 2026: the new SUV that will arrive with hybrid and electric engines

Lancia makes a strong comeback: the new Gamma 2026 will be an electric fastback with up to 700 km of range, built in Italy and ready to lead the premium market

The historic Italian brand Lancia is in the middle of a revival. After years of inactivity, Stellantis has confirmed that the new Lancia Gamma will be the flagship of its rebirth, with a 100% Italian proposal and electric and hybrid powertrains that will mark a new era for the company. This model will be produced at the iconic Melfi plant starting in 2026 and will arrive as a symbol of innovation, sustainability and exclusivity.

The new Gamma will be a fastback of approximately 4.70 metres in length, inspired by the modern style of Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform, already used by models such as the Peugeot 408 and the Opel Grandland.

The model will offer electric powertrain options to suit different needs:

  • Standard 73 kWh batteries, with an approximate range of 500 km on the WLTP cycle.
  • 98 kWh batteries, capable of an impressive range of 700 km.
As for engines, a range is expected from 218 CV (160 kW) up to 388 CV (285 kW), with front-wheel or all-wheel drive options thanks to single- or dual-motor configurations.

Gamma production will take place at the Melfi plant, a benchmark for innovation and sustainability in the Italian automotive industry. Opened in 1994, this factory has been the heart of production for historic models such as the Lancia Ypsilon, and it will now play a key role in Stellantis’ electrification.

The STLA Medium platform, designed to maximise electric performance, supports a 400-volt architecture, which guarantees reduced charging times and outstanding dynamic performance. The Gamma will be equipped with advanced autonomous driving systems and state-of-the-art connectivity technology, reinforcing its positioning in the premium segment.

The expansion plan of LanciaLancia will not stop at home. Its plan includes opening 70 new showrooms in Europe by 2025, in addition to the 160 Lancia Casa already operating in Italy. The brand aims to conquer the premium market with a focus on quality, sustainability and a total electrification strategy.

In parallel, Lancia will return to motorsport with the Ypsilon Rally4 HF, reviving its historic “HF” badge to reinforce its identity as a high-performance brand.
