MagneRide suspension, the athletics technique that benefits the handling of the Ford Mustang
Keeping your balance as you glide. The new Ford Mustang has taken a leaf out of the techniques of skiers and snowboarders to improve driving

The improvements introduced by Ford’s engineers to the suspension and other components of the new generation of the Mustang owe part of their development to the use of MRF, a magnetorheological fluid that Ford uses in the dampers of the new MagneRide suspension of this new generation of muscle car to achieve smoother, more controlled driving.
MRF is the fluid traditionally used by athletes with disabilities to help them keep their balance as they glide over the snow on skis or a snowboard. This magnetorheological fluid helps improve the performance of the joints fitted in artificial knees, allowing them to absorb impacts better and enabling quicker reactions when landing after a jump.

In the Mustang, the fluid is inside the dampers. Sensors register the condition of the roads the car is travelling on, while electromagnets control the iron particles suspended in oil inside the dampers. Automatically, the magnetic field is adjusted up to 1,000 times per second to arrange the particles in each of the car’s dampers, making their response firmer in sharp turns or softer, to allow more comfortable journeys. The technology built into the Mustang’s MagneRide suspension thus contributes significantly to improving the handling of this new generation of the model, increasing the stability of the muscle car and providing smoother braking.
The new Ford Mustang offers a more streamlined line with a more athletic design. It is an even faster and more powerful car thanks to the 5.0-litre V8 engine with 450 CV, which allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds.
