Maxus Euniq 5: an electric seven-seat MPV for under 40,000 euros
Maxus is launching the Euniq 5 on the Spanish market, a seven-seat family MPV with electric propulsion available from 39,900 euros with the Plan Moves subsidy.

Maxus, part of the powerful Asian group SAIC Motor (the world’s seventh-largest carmaker), expands its range with an interesting seven-seat family vehicle with MPV bodywork and fully electric propulsion, the Maxus Eoniq 5. This vehicle joins the brand’s current range of vans: the eDeliver and eDeliver 9 with electric propulsion, and the Deliver 9 with a 163 CV 2.0 TDI engine.
Unlike the latter, the Euniq 5 is a passenger car. And there is no comparable car on the market with MPV bodywork. To find an electric vehicle with seating for seven occupants at a price similar to or lower than the Euniq 5, you have to look at the passenger versions of vans such as the Opel Combo-e, or the Toyota Proace City Verso Electric.
A family car limited by its range
For its positioning as a family car, the Euniq 5 is limited by a WLTP range of 260 km, which will be hard to achieve on motorway journeys; in the city it exceeds 350 km, according to the homologated cycle. The engine produces 130 kW (177 CV), with a maximum torque of 310 Nm, which ensures sufficient performance even with the car fully loaded. It reaches a top speed of 160 km/h and gets from 0 to 100 km/h from a standing start in under 10 seconds.

Bear in mind that this is a car 4.82 metres long, 1.82 metres wide and 1.80 metres high, with a kerb weight of almost 1,900 kg. The battery has a capacity of 52.5 kWh, and comes as standard with a Mode 2 slow charging cable (Schuko) and a Mode 3 fast charging cable; it accepts DC charging with a maximum power of up to 50 kW.
Comprehensive standard equipment.
One of the Euniq 5’s features is that it is offered with only one trim level, which includes a very complete specification: 17-inch alloy wheels, electric tailgate and panoramic sunroof, adaptive cruise control, wireless smartphone charger, leather seats, 12.3-inch multimedia screen, keyless entry… The only option available as an extra is metallic paint, priced at 500 euros.

The Euniq 5’s list price is 52,000 euros, but the brand has a promotional campaign offering 5,100 euros off, bringing the final price down to 46,900 euros. With the Plan Moves III subsidies, the Euniq 5’s price would drop to 39,900 euros. The vehicle comes with a 5-year or 100,000 km warranty, and an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty for the battery.
