Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+: The first electric AMG is now a reality
The most radical version of the EQS to date has been created after passing through the hands of AMG, which has boosted it to 751 CV and 1,020 Nm of torque

A few months ago, Mercedes-Benz presented its 100% electric luxury saloon, known as the EQS. Now, taking advantage of the celebration of the Munich Motor Show, Mercedes has unveiled the most radical version of this electric vehicle, becoming the first fully electric Mercedes to be modified by AMG.
This machine is called the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ and considerably exceeds the 700 CV barrier. A figure that was already hinted at when the EQS was first presented. In terms of power and performance, this car will have to face major rivals such as the Porsche Taycan Turbo S, the Audi e-tron GT and the Tesla Model S.
A fairly understated AMG
In terms of styling, it is true that there is not as much difference as when comparing a standard C-Class with a C63 AMG. However, we do find several specific elements that make it clear we are looking at the most sporty version of the EQS.

At the front, Mercedes has fitted as standard Digital Light headlight units instead of the LED High Performance units of the “normal” version. In addition, a Black Panel grille has been included with chrome vertical slats, the brand’s iconic star as the centrepiece and the AMG badge. The front bumper is painted in the same colour as the bodywork and a small gloss-black front splitter with a chrome trim has been added.
Some quite special wheels
From the side view, the most understated part of this AMG EQS 53 shows only the AMG badges and also alloy wheels in 21 or 22-inch sizes, depending on your choice, with a rather distinctive design that is key to the profile of this saloon.

Looking at the rear, AMG has fitted a subtle gloss-black spoiler, larger than the standard one, along with the EQS 53 AMG badge.
Inside, there is a multifunction steering wheel signed by AMG Performance, aluminium shift paddles and pedals, sports seats with red contrast stitching, carbon-fibre trim, specific AMG floor mats and door sills with the AMG logo.

Extensive development underneath
The dynamic side has been one of the key focus areas in the development of this Mercedes-AMG EQS 53. The star brand has fitted an air suspension system, reinforced arms and mounts, a rear axle with steering capable of turning the wheels up to 9 degrees and the option of a powerful six-piston carbon-ceramic braking system.
Its propulsion system, made up of two motors -one on the front axle and one on the rear- produces an incredible 761 CV of power and 1,020 Nm of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 km/h.

These figures are only possible if you fit the AMG Dynamic Plus package, which increases the car’s power. Without this package, the standard car produces 658 CV and 950 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in a magnificent 3.8 seconds and reaching 220 km/h.
The battery powering this drivetrain operates at 400 volts and has a usable capacity of 107.8 kWh, allowing charging at up to 200 kW, recovering up to 300 km of range in just 19 minutes. The maximum range is 580 kilometres.
