Mercedes-Benz makes charging prices more flexible with its MB.Charge service
With this change, Mercedes-Benz prioritises flexibility so that customers can obtain lower prices at certain specific charging stations.
Until now, the Mercedes-Benz MB.CHARGE service offered brand customers with its subscription plans fixed rates per kWh consumed when charging, which made it possible to know in advance, with complete certainty, what would be paid. From this coming 1 December this is going to change, as variable prices will be introduced depending on the charging point chosen.
Although this new pricing structure will make it more complicated for Mercedes-Benz customers to calculate the cost of each journey in advance, the positive side is that in some specific cases it will allow them to enjoy discounts and savings.

In recent years, electric vehicle manufacturers in Europe have adopted a common model, based on offering a basic option with no monthly fee to access charging stations, with prices that vary by operator; alongside subscription plans for users who make more regular use of fast charging points, in this case applying reduced fixed rates per kWh consumed.
Check the price of charging at each station in advance to save more
The end of fixed rates on the Mercedes-Benz Public M and Public L plans means that customers subscribed to these plans will now need to check the mobile app or the vehicle’s central screen to see the exact price they will have to pay at each station before charging.
Mercedes-Benz will keep the fixed monthly fee of 4.90 euros for the M plan, while for the L plan this fee will drop from the 12.90 euros paid until now to 9.90 euros, making it more attractive.

These flexible rates will not apply, however, to certain specific networks. This is the case, for example, of IONITY, which will keep a fixed price, although lower than it was until now. Thus, with the M plan it will fall from 0.59 euros per kWh consumed to 0.49 euros, while with the L plan it will go from 0.49 euros per kWh consumed to 0.44 euros. On the other hand, on the Mercedes-Benz own network – Mercedes-Benz Charging Network – the price remains at 0.39 € per kWh consumed for both plans.

Finally, it should be noted that the German manufacturer has added to its charging service some partners notable for the reliability and coverage they offer, such as Aral Pulse, Shell Recharge or Mer in Germany. At all of them the cost of charging will be 0.55 euros per kWh consumed with the M plan and 0.49 euros with the L plan, to which an additional 5 cents per minute after the first 90 minutes of use must be added.
