Mercedes-Benz updates its EQS luxury saloon with interior improvements and a more classic exterior look
The new 2025 EQS from Mercedes-Benz tries to look a little more like its combustion-engined siblings, featuring a new, more traditional look
The current design of the Mercedes-Benz EQS saloon is considered by some of the brand’s most traditional customers to be excessively futuristic and lacking charisma. It is a claim with which we personally do not agree, although that does not stop us from understanding the change of direction the German manufacturer has taken in this area. After all, we will never have the opportunity to buy an EQS, whereas those customers with more classic tastes might.
The 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQS thus looks a little more like the top-of-the-range Mercedes-Benz models of old. The company has integrated a front grille that no longer loudly declares that this is a fully electric vehicle and that would be perfectly valid for a combustion model too. The three-pointed star of Mercedes-Benz, positioned vertically on a pedestal, also returns to the front of the vehicle, as it always has on every top-of-the-range model from the German manufacturer. The new EQS also features a new bumper with a more aggressive look when the AMG-line trim level is chosen.

In the new EQS’s interior, the changes are minor. The German firm has improved the padding of the rear seats and added chrome to the ventilation grilles on the B-pillar to send hot or cold air to the rear seats. Passengers in those seats will travel even more comfortably, since now, regardless of the version chosen, the rear seats are reclinable. The Executive package, on the other hand, adds the ability to heat the cabin more quickly, a pair of pillows, as well as heated zones in the seats at neck and shoulder height.

If the EQS’s range was already good, with this update it should be even better
Finally, regarding the vehicle’s internal changes, Mercedes-Benz states that the battery pack integrated into the 2025 EQS is completely new and capable of storing even more energy. This is indeed the case, as we know that its capacity has increased to 118 kWh. What the German manufacturer has not revealed, however, is how much this affects range. We will probably have to wait for the first units of the new EQS to reach the roads to find out.
The new 2025 EQS has also improved its ability to regenerate energy by using its electric motor in reverse for this purpose. Mercedes-Benz’s engineers have made a great effort to ensure the amount of energy recovered is greater than in the previous model, paying special attention to keeping the disc brakes in perfect condition by having them act periodically for this purpose, even when they are not necessary.

Mercedes-Benz will publish the full specification sheet for the 2025 EQS, as well as the price list, shortly before its market launch planned for later this same year. When that happens we will tell you everything, as always, here at HighMotor.
