MGS9 PHEV, the brand's first 7-seat SUV, which is also a plug-in hybrid, arrives in Spain
MG expands its catalogue in Spain with the arrival of the new MGS9, its first 7-seat SUV, which can already be reserved at a very competitive price

MG is adding a new model to its range that takes it into the large SUV segment: the new MGS9, a model that aims to compete in the plug-in hybrid market and that also allows the brand to add to its line-up what will be its first 7-seat model. Furthermore, as with all its other models, the MGS9 also stands out for its excellent balance between equipment and price.
The new MGS9 presents itself as a large SUV thanks to a body measuring 4,980 mm in length, along with a width of 1,960 mm and a height of 1,780 mm. These dimensions are reinforced by the strong presence of its large front end, marked by vertical air intakes that flank the enormous “V”-shaped grille, which on its sides is extended by daytime running lights that run out from the sharp LED light units.

From the headlights, the waistline runs along the side, where the large alloy wheels draw strong attention, as do other design features such as the flush door handles. The roofline descends gently towards the D-pillar, blending perfectly with the small integrated rear spoiler on the electric tailgate, which features an LED light unit spanning its full width and extending onto the sides at each end. Below the tailgate there is a discreet diffuser incorporating the two exhaust outlets with chrome trim.

If the exterior of the MGS9 is elegant, the interior is no less so, with the English-origin brand using quality materials to create that premium feel. The front seats face a carefully designed dashboard with horizontal lines that integrates the two digital screens under a single frame; these house most of the functions, leaving the console and centre tunnel largely free of buttons. Occupants enjoy generous space for head, legs and shoulders, including in the third row of seats, which can be folded individually, leaving a boot with a capacity of 1,026 litres with both seats folded, a figure that can increase further if the second-row seats are folded down in a 60:40 split.

The MGS9 will be offered in two trim levels. The entry-level version, called Comfort, includes standard equipment such as the following:
- 20-inch alloy wheels
- Panoramic sunroof
- Fabric upholstery
- Leather-trimmed multifunction steering wheel
- Heated front seats
- Ambient lighting
- Electric driver’s seat with 8-way adjustment
- Electric front passenger seat with 6-way adjustment.
- Three-zone climate control
- 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen
- 12.3-inch instrument cluster
- Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
- Electric tailgate
- HD rear-view camera with 360º
- V2L technology
- MG Pilot Pack with 16 ADAS systems

The second and final trim level for the MGS9 is called Premium and adds the following elements to all of the above:
- Imitation leather upholstery
- Ventilated front seats with massage function
- Front fog lights
- 12-speaker Bose audio system
- 4-way electric lumbar support for the driver
- Auto-dimming rear-view mirror
- Smart tailgate
- Wireless smartphone charger

Mechanically, the MGS9 uses the same plug-in hybrid propulsion system fitted to the MG HS PHEV. That is, it combines a 1,500 cc petrol engine with two electric motors, one of which acts as a generator, to deliver a combined output of 299 CV and a torque of 390 Nm. This plug-in hybrid system also includes a 24.7 kWh battery, which allows it to cover around 100 km in fully electric mode, enough for most daily journeys.
The new MGS9 can now be ordered in Spain with prices starting at €32,900 for the Comfort trim, including brand discounts and aid from the Plan Auto +, while the Premium trim starts at €35,990. Prices excluding discounts and aid are €42,340 and €45,340 respectively.
