MINI keeps renewing the range: now it's the turn of the MINI 5-door
MINI presents the new 2021 MINI 5-door, which receives the improvements being rolled out across the rest of the range.

On paper, you might think the MINI in its 5-door body version is not exactly the most attractive. And I’m only referring to design, since from a practical standpoint the versatility that rear doors bring to using these seats is unquestionable.
But the “purists” believe the 5-door MINI moves away from the original concept, and the integration of the rear doors into the bodywork of this iconic city car, although well executed, doesn’t quite convince them. However, the figures prove MINI right, as it has already sold more than 500,000 units of its 5-door city car worldwide.
Specifically, 56,000 units of this body variant were sold in 2020. In the Spanish market, since the MINI’s launch in 2014, the 5-door has exceeded 21,000 units, representing close to 28% of total sales.

That said, the best thing is for there to be variety to choose from, and MINI has this clear, with a very complete range that covers needs for every taste: MINI 3-door, MINI Cabrio, MINI 5-door, MINI Clubman, MINI Countryman… not forgetting the MINI Cooper SE electric, and the MINI Countryman plug-in hybrid.
With a wheelbase 7 cm longer than that of the MINI 3-door, and a body that is 16 centimetres longer, the MINI 5-door retains the agility and ease of parking of the 3-door version. But passengers in the three rear seats enjoy better access, and more legroom and headroom. The boot reaches almost 280 litres of capacity, but the ability to fold the rear seats in a 60:40 split expands the load volume to more than 940 litres.
New design details and multi-tone roof
The new MINI 5-door range features the new hexagonal front grille and new headlights with standard LED technology. The rear lights, completely redesigned, also feature LED technology. At the front, where the fog lights used to be, there are now vertical air intakes for cooling. The bumper is painted in body colour, although it can be interrupted by the optional piano black pack, to highlight the grille.

A notable new feature is the multi-tone roof, with a colour gradient that includes blue at the front, silver in the centre and black at the rear. This roof can be combined with the various body colours available, including a new one designed specifically to match the multi-tone roof, in metallic grey that shifts towards silver.
Inside, the new MINI 5-door receives central air vents flush with the trim and a new central panel that includes the 8.8-inch touchscreen as standard. Optionally, the instrumentation can be digital. The sport-styled multifunction steering wheel, trimmed in leather, is also added as standard equipment and can now be heated.

The interior personalisation is completed by the ambient lighting system, which changes together with the information shown on the digital instrumentation depending on the selected driving mode, “Lounge” or “Sport”.
There are no changes to the engine range, which lets you choose between the MINI One with the 1.5 three-cylinder engine and 102 CV, the Cooper with the 136 CV version of the same engine, or the Cooper S, with the 2.0 four-cylinder engine and 178 CV.
