Porsche 911 prepared by Singer: the rebirth of a classic
The American company Singer Vehicle Design has worked together with Williams to rejuvenate this very special 911 964, which features a 500 CV engine.

The Porsche 911 could be considered the quintessential sports car, as it has a great history behind it and its latest generation carries a legacy that the brand is conveying perfectly. But Porsche is not the only one looking after the 911: there are also other companies that watch over day and night to keep alive every version of the most beloved sports car of all time. This is the case of Singer, a company dedicated to restoring the 911.
Today, the American firm has unveiled a very special restoration: that of a 911 964. But Singer has not worked alone on this occasion , and that is why Williams Advanced Engineering has decided to join the surgical team and provide technological components for this very special Porsche. Additionally, engineer Hans Mezger has also been involved in the project.
The mechanics of this 911 have been modified, but always keeping the philosophy of the Porsche intact. Thanks to the participation of Hans Mezger – who worked side by side with Porsche – the new engine of the 964 remains faithful to the powerplants that the German firm used to install up to that point. The six naturally aspirated cylinders make an appearance in this 911, producing 500 CV that go directly to the rear axle.

Both Singer and Williams have focused on considerably reducing the weight of the German sports car. To do so, they have used the lightest materials possible, such as carbon fibre, magnesium and titanium, among others. In this way, the American company has achieved a total weight of just 990 kg. If we combine this with the figures it offers, we obtain a power-to-weight ratio worthy of admiration.
But tuning of the chassis and suspension has also been necessary to achieve a perfect balance in this very special 911. A variable-adjustment suspension has been installed, offering several driving modes depending on the characteristics of the terrain. Aerodynamics has also played a part in this set of modifications, especially on the underbody. To achieve this, the latest technology has been used to obtain the best possible result.
Other companies, such as Michelin, Brembo or BBS, have been present in the creation of this “new” 911. These three brands provide fundamental elements so that the work done by the engine and chassis reacts correctly on the asphalt. The most curious thing is that, in addition to all these companies, journalist Chris Harris has also been involved in the work of Singer and Williams.

For now, Singer has not made any statements about the price of this very special 911, but it has commented that it is a personal project intended for one of its clients. The American firm plans to continue with other projects and base them on this first one, until reaching a total of 75 exclusive units.
