Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo, the estate according to Porsche

Porsche has become, in recent years and through more than merited achievements, one of the most unconventional car manufacturers.

A good example of this is the latest addition to its range, the third body style of its Panamera saloon, called Sport Turismo, which will delight the most original and family-minded customers.

Let’s be frank: the first generation of the Panamera had many attributes, mostly technical, but among them was not the purest beauty that other Porsche models such as the 911 offer. The first generation of this distinctive German saloon arrived on the market with a somewhat crude design, not refined to excess.

The arrival in 2016 of the new generation of the Panamera marked a before and after in the history of this model, which went from being the ugly duckling of the luxury saloon segment to one of the most coveted objects of desire among the followers and customers of this type of vehicle.

The new Panamera has perfectly captured the lines that define any Porsche design, becoming, at last, a true 911 with five doors, all combined with a technological payload that places it, without any doubt, as one of the most advanced production vehicles today.

However, it is only now that Porsche has decided to meet one of the strongest demands from the brand’s followers, who were asking for a more versatile, more multi-purpose Panamera. This concept has finally taken shape in the third body style of the Panamera, christened Panamera Sport Turismo.

The Sport Turismo is Porsche’s interpretation of what an estate should be (a shooting brake, rather). This new body style, defined by Porsche as a “4+1”, measures 5.05 metres long, 1.43 metres high and 1.94 metres wide, keeping the wheelbase unchanged at 2.95 metres.

The Panamera Sport Turismo’s lines are especially robust, above all when seen from the rear, where, quite evidently, the changes are most striking. The rear is imposing, with very pronounced shoulders and a very wide C-pillar, which gives the Sport Turismo an appearance that blends that of a saloon and a coupé.

Inside, the changes are concentrated mainly in the rear, where the space for occupants is greater. So much so that Porsche has decided to fit a third seat on the rear bench, making it the first Panamera to have five seats. As an option, the two individual rear seats are still available.

In the boot, the gain is not very large, as capacity increases by only 20 litres over the saloon, but the benefits are found mainly in the greater ease of getting in and out, as well as loading and unloading luggage.

The Panamera Sport Turismo range is configured as follows:

  • Panamera 4 Sport Turismo 330 CV: 109,088 EUR
  • Panamera 4 E-Hybrid Sport Turismo 462 CV: 115,488 EUR
  • Panamera 4S Sport Turismo 440 CV: 133,800 EUR
  • Panamera 4S Diesel Sport Turismo 422 CV: 138,114 EUR
  • Panamera Turbo Sport Turismo 550 CV: 182,899 EUR
