Škoda focuses on its 2021 models with expanded equipment lists and new engines, which increase power and comply with the Euro 6d standard

Skoda Model Year 2021 (6)

If at the beginning of this month Škoda launched an offensive through its “Simply Clever Days” to help you decide on one of its models, an offer that, by the way, ends tomorrow, Saturday, the Czech brand is now launching updates for practically all of its models, which focus on offering better equipment, both optional and standard, and new engines that will see their power and efficiency increased.

More powerful engines for the Škoda Superb

The Škoda Superb is positioned as the brand’s top-of-the-range model, so its engines will continue to match its sportiness, but now more powerful and, of course, more efficient. This will primarily affect the most powerful version of the Superb’s diesel range, the 2.0 TDI of the new EVO generation, which will go from delivering 190 CV to now offering 200 CV. In addition, the SCR exhaust gas treatment system now uses a double dosing process in which AdBlue is now injected directly ahead of the two catalytic converters, which helps reduce NOx emissions by 80%. The most powerful petrol engine in the Škoda Superb, also a 2,000 cc TSI, will see its power increased by 8 CV, thus delivering 280 CV. Both engines will have their respective Euro 6d certification.

These combustion-engine variants have been inspired by the success of the Superb iV plug-in hybrid variant, bringing over from it the Area View system as optional equipment, which, thanks to four cameras, gives us a 360º view of our car, especially useful for parking manoeuvres. Those who opt for the Superb can now also equip it with the Trailer Assist system, an assistant that helps us perform manoeuvres more easily when towing, for example, a trailer or a caravan.

The Škoda Kodiaq increases its performance and equipment

In the engine line-up, as we saw earlier with the Superb, the 190 CV 2.0 TDI engine of the Kodiaq also now delivers 200 CV of power, and it won’t be long to wait, since from early autumn you will be able to order the Kodiaq with this engine. In addition, this engine, like its 150 CV version, will comply with Euro 6d regulations, as will the 1.5 TSI, which will also receive a new six-speed manual gearbox of the latest generation.

In terms of equipment, the Škoda Kodiaq will add the Predictive Cruise Control to its optional equipment list, which, using camera images and navigation data, can detect speed restrictions and curves ahead, automatically adapting its speed. That is not all, as the Kessy keyless entry system now becomes more useful by working for all doors and, for the Kodiaq Sportline and RS versions, the option of leather upholstery and an extendable front bench is now included in the new sports seats with air conditioning.

The Škoda Karoq will get a new diesel engine

The most important news for the Škoda Karoq is found in its engines: as you can see, the brand is adapting all its engines to Euro 6d regulations, which means that the 115 CV 1.6 TDI engine disappears from the Karoq range in favour of the 2.0 TDI, which will keep the same 115 CV of power. As for the petrol range, the entry-level engine, the 116 CV 1.0 TSI, will see its power reduced to 110 CV.

In terms of equipment, the Škoda Karoq follows the Kodiaq’s lead, now also adding to its options list the Climatronic three-zone climate control and the driver assistance systems Area View and Trailer Assist described above.

The Škoda Scala and Kamiq improve their equipment and design

Both the Škoda Scala and the Škoda Kamiq share much of their equipment, so in both we will see the Kessy keyless entry system reduce its deactivation time from 15 minutes to 5 minutes if the key has not been moved, while for the respective “Monte Carlo” versions the logo can now also be ordered in silver alongside the existing black. Both models will also see their engines adapted to Euro 6d regulations and, as with the Karoq, the entry-level petrol engine, the 1.0 TSI, will now deliver 110 CV of power.

Individually, the Škoda Scala will receive the new Red & Grey design pack. This pack includes an extended rear window for the Ambition and Style trims (not available for the Scala G-TEC version), a black grille surround and black mirror housings, “Propus Aero” 17-inch alloy wheels, and red/grey vinyl for the doors along with specific door sills.

New gearbox and equipment for the Škoda Fabia

In the engine line-up of the Škoda Fabia, the most important novelty is for the three-cylinder 95 CV 1.0 TSI engine, which, in addition to the standard five-speed manual gearbox, can now also be chosen with the 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. Naturally, this engine, like the 60 CV 1.0 MPI engine, also complies with Euro 6d regulations.

In terms of equipment, the new Škoda Fabia also benefits from the new version of the Kessy keyless entry system, which deactivates if the key is not moved within five minutes, but now it also features the Swing infotainment system, which includes a 6.5-inch touchscreen along with standard DAB digital radio. The Fabia, like the rest of the brand’s models, also features the new steering wheel designs that debuted on the new Octavia.
