SsangYong Concepts Geneva Motor Show SUV
SsangYong XAVL, a 7-seat SUV for the Geneva Motor Show

SsangYong wants to position itself in the mid-size SUV segment, a market where an interesting contest between several manufacturers is beginning to take shape. One of the rivals it has to take into account is the Land Rover Discovery Sport or, looking at a generalist, the Peugeot 5008, so at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show it will present the SsangYong XAVL, a concept car that aims to rival that British model in performance, size and capacity.
The SsangYong XAVL wants to position itself at the same level as the Kia Sorrento or the Hyundai Santa Fe, two cars of similar size to the Land Rover. To offer something more, it will have seven seats, which promises ample room for a very comfortable journey without sacrificing the performance expected of a vehicle of this kind.

To achieve this design, they have based it on the SsangYong XAV, which was presented at the last Frankfurt Motor Show and which will be one of the models to see the light of day in 2019. With these expectations, the model to be presented in Geneva is also expected to be ready during the final years of this decade and to be seen in dealerships before the start of the new decade.
Information about the model is very limited, and not much will be known about it until the presentation takes place. We know, from the images circulated, that the front is an evolution of the brand’s current design language, although the body shapes and lines will be more aggressive than on other models from the brand.
Inside, the manufacturer promises a very intuitive interface in a spacious and comfortable interior. The multimedia screen will be large and will allow easy and effective access to all the information and entertainment systems, to enhance the on-board experience. In addition, a new range of engines, both petrol and diesel, is expected, which will make this model even more anticipated.
The brand’s plans are to increase production to 500,000 vehicles a year, thanks to the commitment of Mahindra, the company’s parent, and the collaboration with LG U+, the telecommunications arm of the Korean giant.
