Take off your headphones: these are the 5 Porsche with the loudest sound in history
Porsche has just offered us a very special Top 5, featuring the five models with the loudest and most iconic sound of all time.

The motoring world has always been seasoned with a trait that every enthusiast considers essential, especially when it comes to a high-performance vehicle: its sound. Over the years, we have witnessed how numerous brands have resorted to certain add-ons that fail to convince, where forced backfiring and sound simulations through the audio system have become some of the sorcery of contemporary cars. However, Porsche has wanted to brighten our morning with a series of very special models, which make it into Porsche’s Top 5 of the loudest -and most beautiful- sounds in history.
Without a doubt, the German brand has always been known for its charismatic sound from its six-cylinder boxer engines, but throughout its history we have witnessed other configurations that have also produced melodies capable of sending shivers down our spines. Without further ado, here are the 5 Porsche with the best soundtrack.
Porsche 911 SC Safari
Porsche has stood out throughout its history not only for the 911 and other iconic models, but also for its presence in the world of racing. It was in 1953 when the Safari Rally was held on the African continent, a grueling competition that demanded a high level of endurance from both car and driver. To do so, the German firm developed the 911 SC Safari, a model specifically engineered to tackle any adverse terrain.

In 1978, Porsche achieved what no one had managed until then: having its two entered vehicles finish the event in second and fourth place. To reach this goal, the people from Stuttgart brought the 911 SC to life with a six-cylinder, 3.0-litre Boxster engine capable of producing 250 CV of power, which allowed the German sports car to reach a top speed of 210 km/h.
With a single silencer in its exhaust system, the competition nine-eleven managed to register 122.9 decibels on the meter, a figure that places it in fifth position in this iconic ranking. With this in mind, we are not only looking at one of the most iconic Porsche 911s, but also one of those that sound best and loudest.
Porsche 911 (996) RSR
Once again we can see a Porsche model linked to the world of competition: the 911 996 RSR. This generation of the German sports car made its full entry into the GT category, where various versions of the nine-eleven have made their appearance. Taking the production GT3 as its base, Porsche’s engineers gave this model the RSR name to bring out a much more rebellious character and one prepared to unleash all its power on the asphalt.

Under the skin hides a six-cylinder, 3.6-litre engine capable of generating 455 CV of power and 410 Nm of torque, delivered at 7,200 rpm. With a weight of just 1,100 kilos, the 911 RSR 996 became one of the fastest in its class.
Considering that this is a vehicle exclusively designed for competition, we can expect a sound worthy of that sector. Thus, in the video we can hear a sound reaching 123.4 decibels recorded by the machine, along with a series of flames that quickly reflect its clear character.
Porsche 928 Trigema
The competition variant of the acclaimed Porsche 928 also makes its way straight into this Top 5, where it takes bronze among the other formidable contenders. The Trigema name brought out the most radical and sporty side of the 928, something also reflected in its mechanics and, above all, in its spectacular sound.

A V8 heart beats inside the 928, a configuration that continued to appear in other Porsche models but was not used in the 911 and 718. With this in mind, we are not only looking at a very exclusive example, but also one with a sound that is truly captivating.
With a sound level of 126.4 decibels, the 928 Trigema has secured third place, making it one of the loudest Porsche models in history. Without doubt, this level of noise is not suitable for everyone , but it allows us to rank this model among those that sound best in all of history.
Porsche 804
Formula 1 was another arena in which Porsche also made its presence felt and where it has achieved numerous titles. The 804 was one of the most iconic models of all time, earning first place at the 1962 French Grand Prix and in the non-championship race held at Solitude, Stuttgart.

Its mechanics were driven by an eight-cylinder, air-cooled engine capable of generating 180 CV of power, a figure delivered at a full 9,200 rpm. With this in mind, we can expect a sound where no restriction or anti-pollution regulation stands in its way.
Thus, the silver medal goes directly to the Porsche 804, a vehicle that achieves a “score” of 137.8 decibels, a figure that places it among the cars with some of the loudest sounds in the world. But, as could not be otherwise, we must make room for another, even more special model that takes the gold in this Top 5.
Porsche 911 Carrera RSR Turbo 2.1
Last but not least, we find the Porsche 911 Carrera RSR Turbo 2.1, a model that carries an iconic legacy and marked a turning point in the history of the German brand. This model was produced between 1971 and 1974, with the aim of developing new technology based on turbocharging that could later be applied to road models.

To bring the 911 Carrera RSR Turbo to life, the company’s engineers turned to a six-cylinder, 2.1-litre heart supplemented by a turbocharger to produce 500 CV at 7,600 rpm. This is how we arrive at number one in the Top 5, where it stands not only as one of the most important models for Porsche, but also as the one with the best sound.

With 138.1 decibels, the RSR Turbo takes first place by a clear margin, thus becoming one of the most sonorous vehicles of all time. This is how Porsche has wanted to present its lineup of the loudest models, where each and every participant boasts an exhaust system worthy of admiration.
