Tesla sets a record and announces it has built one million electric vehicles
The American manufacturer has produced its 1 millionth electric car, and Elon Musk celebrated it with a tweet showing the car, a Model Y, and the team

Many manufacturers are eager to produce electric vehicles, but these are not yet as popular as they should be. There aren’t many electric models, although the presence of this type of car, along with hybrids and plug-in hybrids, keeps growing in the lineups of many brands. But above all of them, there is one that stands out for its firm commitment to electric mobility, and that is Tesla.
Since this project got underway several years ago, the company’s production has faced numerous problems. Delays, difficulties sourcing components for car manufacturing, trouble meeting delivery dates and other issues have led to the brand being questioned many times. Yet despite all of this, Tesla has achieved an important milestone.

Indeed, the electric cars built by Tesla have now reached the one million unit mark, a milestone that makes this company the first to reach this number of electric vehicles produced. This figure was achieved by adding up the models the company has on the market: the Model S, Model X and Model 3, plus the units of the Model Y being prepared for launch.
And precisely, the Tesla number 1 million was a Model Y, which rolled off the assembly plant. Elon Musk, the company’s CEO and one of the most influential men in the world today, wanted to share with everyone a tweet with the car in question and the team that took part in its production.

Just a few years ago, few people, if any, would have bet that this manufacturer would manage to produce this number of high-capacity electric vehicles. And not only does it hold this record, it can also claim to have delivered the largest number of electric cars.
Last October Tesla managed to overtake BYD as the world’s largest electric vehicle manufacturer, with 807,954 electric vehicles delivered, compared with the 787,150 vehicles delivered by the Chinese brand. That said, it must be taken into account that BYD also offers plug-in hybrids, which makes a significant difference.
Tesla’s production increased thanks to the launch of the Shanghai factory, where this year it aims to reach production of 150,000 units. Together with the Fremont factory, production is expected to reach 650,000 cars this year. The goal of Tesla now seems to be to reach one million electric cars produced per year, so it would be working to keep growing continuously in order to achieve it.
