The Aston Martin Valkyire, a formidable supercar that will arrive shortly

The engine of the future supercar from Aston Martin will be able to deliver 1,130 CV by combining the combustion and electric motors it will feature

We have been hearing about the supercar that will come from the union of Aston Martin and Red Bull, a car destined to be something that will go beyond what we are used to seeing. Indeed, as we learn more of the data this car will put on the road, we are increasingly impressed. The images you can see alongside the article are not of a physical vehicle, but several renders that give volume to the preliminary designs, so we are still some way off seeing it in the flesh.

But we do have data on its performance, which is quite impressive. A total output of 900 CV was expected, but the latest specifications give a total of 1,130 CV, which will be split between the output of the combustion engine and an electric motor powered by batteries.

The combustion engine is a 6.5-litre V12 block that delivers most of that power, around 1,000 CV, while the rest will come through the electric motor. The power-to-weight ratio is 1:1, according to what the brand has revealed. This means the car’s weight will be kept under control and will not exceed 1,130 kg, although it has even been suggested it could come in below that figure.

This weight will be achieved using a Monocell carbon fibre monocoque chassis, while the batteries will be of a special type, supplied by Rimac, designed to reduce the total weight of the vehicle. The obsession with eliminating superfluous weight extends even to the brand badge, which will be designed to measure just a few microns in thickness and weigh in milligrams. Everything matters for this, and every gram saved counts.

If you are interested in owning one of these supercars, you should bear in mind that only 150 units will be built of this spectacular model, which does not yet have a set price. There will also be 25 units intended for the track, which will feature an even more extreme aerodynamic kit, with a larger front diffuser, as well as the rear wing.

Production will presumably begin in 2019, although there is not yet even a test prototype. This should arrive during 2018, and the production model would be presented at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. That is, at least, what we expect.
