The BMW X6 M50d and some new details
The BMW X6 M50d previews some performance figures, while the three-turbo six-cylinder is also expected to appear in the M550d xDrive and the 7 Series.

Weren’t you one of those who kicked up a fuss and threw your hands in the air at the mere mention of diesel-powered models in BMW’s M division? What was said above was not just a rumour, it is real: a high-performance diesel engine has been doing the rounds in Munich for some time. And one of the next “M” models to use a diesel is the X6 M50d.
Some new details about the model have emerged, courtesy of the usual “sources and close contacts”. According to them, the X6 M50d will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and deliver 381 CV and 545 lb-ft of torque, thanks to the three-turbo six-cylinder. Not much power for an M, but plenty of torque, that’s for sure.
This engine and xDrive all-wheel drive will not only give the X6 wings, but it is also being prepared for the M550d xDrive and surely the 7 Series update.
And to think there are still people who believe these vehicles are not truly worthy of the famous M badge. Personally, I think they are capable of this and much more, for one simple reason. Today’s diesel cars are not like those of yesteryear; thirty years ago anyone would have laughed out loud at the mention of a diesel with almost 400 horsepower, but today they deserve to stand alongside high-performance petrol models. And both M, Brabus and AMG have managed it.
