The Chevrolet mid-engine Corvette is putting the finishing touches on its details at the Nürburgring
The mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette will soon be a reality, as shown by this latest visit to the Nürburgring, where more details can be seen

The supercar segment is increasingly well established, but there is always room for a new competitor to join this fiercely contested battle. The new variant Chevrolet is developing for the Corvette may reach the entire world as we previewed a few weeks ago, but today we have seen it running at full speed around the Nürburgring wearing a more lenient camouflage. This is a clear sign that the creation of the mid-engine Corvette may be closer than ever and it will arrive to revolutionise the supercar sector.
The American brand decided many years ago to withdraw from several markets, including Europe, to focus its sales mainly on America. The Chevrolet Corvette has always been known for wearing the crown of king of muscle cars, but the brand has wanted to give its flagship supercar a new approach.
Given the tough rivals coming from Europe, Chevrolet has decided to give the Corvette a 360º overhaul and place the engine in a mid-mounted position. In this way, the American supercar will compete more directly with models such as the Audi R8, the Ferrari 488 GTB and the Lamborghini Huracán, three high-flying vehicles that will be threatened by this imminent Corvette.

As we mentioned, this new Chevrolet beast is at the Nürburgring putting the finishing touches on it and we have been able to take a closer look at its future appearance. Beneath this thin camouflage we can make out an updated front end, on which sit two slimmer, elongated front headlights, which give the American supercar a fresher, more modern look. But, without a doubt, what attracts the most attention is its rear, which has been completely updated to house the engine at the back.
As for the technical data, it remains a mystery, since the company has not made any statements on the matter. But we can guess that its innards will hide a powerful naturally aspirated V8 engine capable of producing power close to 500 CV in its more “modest” version. This is because Chevrolet will surely develop more radical variants of the mid-engine Corvette, just as it does with the conventional model.

The launch dates have not yet been revealed, but the American brand may take the opportunity of the next edition of the Geneva Motor Show to show the world this new model. The mid-engine Corvette is here to stay and to revolutionise the supercar segment and offer its potential customers a very capable new model.
