The Citroën Berlingo boosts its performance with the new PureTech 130 S&S engine

The Citroën Berlingo kicks off 2020 by introducing the new PureTech 130 S&S petrol engine, which will be paired with an automatic gearbox for greater comfort

Although the completely redesigned Citroën Berlingo went on sale in Spain in the summer of 2018, its range has not yet been fully completed. In fact, the Berlingo closed out 2019 with the Tinkervan version, turning it into a “camper” well suited to weekend getaways. And 2020 starts the same way, with the introduction of a new, more powerful engine.

The Citroën Berlingo currently offers a choice of three engines: two diesel options, the BlueHDi 100 S&S and the BlueHDi 130, the latter with the option of an automatic gearbox; while the only petrol option for now is the PureTech 110 S&S paired with a manual gearbox.

But the petrol engine line-up will soon be expanded with the introduction of a new, more powerful engine, also distinguished by its efficiency and low consumption given the type of vehicle it will power. In this way, the Citroën Berlingo will soon let us choose the PureTech 130 S&S engine, which delivers 130 CV together with 230 Nm of torque, and is also paired with the EAT8 automatic gearbox. With this powertrain, the Berlingo has a combined consumption of 7 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 119 g/km, both figures according to the WLTP test cycle.

One advantage of choosing this engine will be that it is available for both the M size and the XL size, so buyers can pick the bodywork that best suits their tastes or preferences, with the Berlingo’s wide-ranging modularity, versatility and interior space at their disposal. This is complemented by its broad customisation options, thanks to 21 possible colour and styling pack combinations. On top of this, this engine will be linked to the “Shine” trim, which comes as standard with features such as:

  • 16-inch alloy wheels.
  • Electric windows for rows 1 and 2.
  • Heated, electrically folding exterior mirrors.
  • Dual-zone automatic climate control.
  • Tinted rear windows.
  • Citroën Connect Radio with an 8-inch touchscreen and connectivity via USB, Bluetooth and Mirror Screen.

Naturally, to all of this we can add the wide list of available options, such as up to 18 advanced driver-assistance functions, including Active Safety Brake, active lane departure warning or collision risk alert, among others; as well as other systems such as the Citroën ConnectNav 3D navigation or the Grip Control intelligent anti-slip system.
