Cupra Tavascan Electric Cars SUV
The CUPRA Tavascan faces the extreme climate of Lapland and passes the test successfully
Lapland has become the setting where the brand’s electric SUV has been tested to prove that not even extreme temperatures can defeat it.

If you think it’s cold in Spain, consider how cold it can get in a country like Lapland. This country, which lies very close to the Arctic Circle, endures extreme temperatures in winter. That is why it has become one of the preferred places for brands to test their new models in conditions of extreme cold. One of the models put to the test on snow and ice has been the CUPRA Tavascan.
The Spanish brand’s SUV had an exceptional driver, because behind the wheel of the vehicle sat Lucas Di Grassi, a driver for the Formula E team ABT CUPRA. The driver experienced the sensations the car conveyed as it moved across these rugged terrains, which are by no means easy to traverse.

For the driver, who has extensive experience as a test vehicle driver, it is the first time he has had to face such a cold and hostile climate. In addition, this was also his first contact with the CUPRA Tavascan, so it was a unique experience that allowed him to test the car in conditions that are not normally encountered by any vehicle.

CUPRA TAVASCAN PRUEBAS EN LAPONIA
The temperatures at which these tests were carried out reached 35º below zero. This means the vehicle subjected to them reaches levels that reveal how far it can go and what limits it has. One of the tests carried out is braking. Unlike other terrains, in these conditions the demands are far greater. Ice and snow make braking more difficult and require greater control.
Some of the tests were carried out on a frozen lake, which is used as a track for drivers and engineers to check how the vehicle behaves in sub-zero temperatures. Something they can later take to other conditions, with more normal temperatures, which may be found in the countries where it is going to be marketed.
For these tests, up to 100 engineers from the brand have passed through the Lapland facilities from November to March. All of them have worked to adjust every technical detail identified through tuning at low temperatures and on very demanding terrain. All of this so that, when it reaches the market, the CUPRA Tavascan will offer exactly what future buyers are looking for.
