The Honda Insight and CR-Z bid farewell to the Spanish market

Honda will stop selling the CR-Z and Insight in Spain, a decision taken due to sales figures that were not even representative. Two hybrid vehicles that had their chance in our market, but were greatly affected by the crisis in the automotive sector.

Of the four hybrid models that Honda had on sale in Spain, two of them will no longer be sold by the Japanese brand. These are the Honda Insight and the CR-Z, which have not reached high registration numbers. A compelling reason to take such a decision, since so far this year both vehicles have sold 6 and 8 units, respectively.

The Honda Insight received the most recent renewal presented by the brand in February of last year. Despite being one of the pioneers of hybrid mobility in the world, its impact in our country had diminished enough, even with a 88 CV petrol engine and a 14 CV electric motor, with an average consumption of 4.3 l/100 km.

In the case of the CR-Z, the latest changes had included revisions to the vehicle’s overall design, with a slight increase in power to the 134 horsepower of its 1.5-litre engine, dating from March of this year. An improvement in the final output of the electric motor, which rose to 20 horsepower, had also been introduced.

These changes did not do much to raise the declining popularity of this compact hybrid. It offered interesting performance for a hybrid thanks to its three driving modes: ECO, Normal and Sport. While the first two modes were considered fuel-saving, the Sport mode provided a better and quicker response to the accelerator.
