The Lexus ES is partially shown ahead of its debut at the Beijing Motor Show

Lexus will be present at the Beijing Motor Show with a new model which, presumably, is the renewed ES, adopting a new design and up-to-date technology

The Lexus range, taking its time but never pausing, has been renewed in every market where it is present, and it has even found time to present us with prototypes such as the spectacular and luxurious LF-1 Limitless, which were revealed a few days ago and which, with the Beijing Motor Show approaching, may be the perfect stage for gradually showing itself to the public.

It is precisely at a new edition of the Beijing Motor Show, whose doors will open on 25 April, that Lexus will presumably show us another renewal of one of its models, specifically the Lexus ES. And I say presumably because Lexus has been very brief in its words and images, simply urging us to stay alert to what will happen at its stand on the 25th in Beijing.

Even so, we can draw some conjectures. Judging by the image heading this post, it is clearly the Lexus ES, a saloon whose main market is the United States and which, as with its other models and brands, has its own hybrid version. Lexus states that this model will arrive to reinvent the concept of luxury worldwide, so we may think that the Lexus ES will expand into new markets and also reach Europe and Spain.

The latest update the Lexus ES received dates from 2015, when, around this same time of year, it was presented at the Shanghai Motor Show, bringing with it a new design language for Lexus that also influenced updates to other models in the brand. Another possibility, therefore, is that the Lexus ES will remain focused on its current markets, while its new design serves to lay the groundwork for the changes the rest of the Lexus range will undergo.

For now, what we can make out clearly is that its front end will be renewed, especially the characteristic Lexus grille, abandoning the horizontal bars in favour of vertical ones, giving it a much more aggressive and modern look than the current one. A grille that seems to merge with the lines of the bonnet to form a single piece, while on either side we will find the familiar sharp gaze of Lexus’s light clusters, updated to today’s technology.

As for its construction, the new Lexus ES is expected to use the TNGA platform (Toyota New Global Architecture), already present in other models in the group such as the Toyota Prius, the Toyota C-HR and the more recent Lexus UX. Naturally, we can also expect an update to all safety systems, with the aim of catching up with its European rivals, in addition to remaining a benchmark within the brand for the use of hybrid technology.

That is all we can tell you for the moment, although in just one week Lexus will reveal the mystery and, hopefully, offer more concrete information.
