The Lotus Evora GTC is revealed

Lotus Racing has revealed the Evora GTC, successor to the GT4 Cup, and which will be dedicated to the American Grand-Am series.

Amid problems that threaten its future, Lotus continues to reveal cars with a racing inclination that is hard to ignore, especially when we talk about the new incarnation of the Evora GT4, the GTC, created specifically to compete in the North American Grand-Am category.

Like any self-respecting race car, the GTC features a wholesale weight reduction by applying carbon fibre in places where it had not been used before, such as the doors, bonnet and engine cover. The windows are no longer glass (except for the windscreen), because the Plexiglas used in racing appears in abundance in the GTC.

The result is exactly what Lotus has pursued almost its entire life as a brand, ever since Colin Chapman set up his own company. That is, the GTC is a car with a very low weight of around 1,130 kilos. The engine has not been touched and still features the same 450-horsepower V6, coupled to a six-speed XTRAC sequential gearbox. The only mechanical novelty compared to the GT4 is the addition of traction control and the Bosch anti-lock braking system.

The first customer for the GTC is the McMahon Raceworks/Condor Motorsport team, who will soon compete with this brand-new Lotus. Obviously, right now we are all thinking the same thing: how great it would be to have a GTC in a road or limited-series version.
