The Mercedes-AMG S63 Hybrid gets updated for a vibrant 2024
The S-Class model included in the AMG range is set to be updated within a few months, to be presented in 2024, with more power and equipment

The Mercedes-AMG S63 Hybrid is set to kick off 2024 with several important changes that will take the car to another level. To achieve this, AMG engineers have worked with Formula 1 technology to improve its performance. The result is that it will be the most powerful Mercedes S-Class in history. Or so, at least, the brand promises.
The Mercedes-AMG C63S reduced its engine capacity, going from a V8 to a four-cylinder engine, but the new Mercedes-AMG S63 Hybrid will keep the twin-turbo V8 engine, whose power will be increased by an electric motor. This will send its power to the rear axle, making this version of the model a powerful vehicle that can be driven on the road but seems designed for the track.

The battery mounted on the rear axle offers only a capacity of 13.1 kWh, which will allow the vehicle to travel about 33 kilometres in electric mode. But when designing this hybrid system, range was not what the brand was looking for; instead, they focused on performance.

MERCEDES-AMG S63 HYBRID
The Mercedes-AMG S63 that emerged from the 2020 facelift offered 612 CV of power and a maximum torque of 900 Nm. The V8 engine of this upcoming model will benefit from the rear electric motor. This will contribute an extra 197 CV of power, so the car will deliver a total of 802 CV and a maximum torque of 1,430 Nm.
The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration is set at 3.3 seconds, with a top speed limited to 250 km/h. However, the driver will be able to reach 290 km/h if they pay the extra subscription, which removes that limit. As for standard equipment, this includes air suspension with electromechanical anti-roll bars, adaptive dampers, rear-wheel steering, carbon-ceramic brakes and even active engine mounts.
Other features we will find are the new bumper, jet-wing design, with large air intakes. The trapezoidal-shaped exhaust pipes are located on both sides of the diffuser. Standard wheels are 20 inches, but 21-inch wheels are available as an option.

Modified interior
The interior has also received several changes. The AMG upholstery is present on all four seats, as is the AMG badge, which appears on the headrests. The infotainment system also features AMG styling, to give the whole cabin a consistent look.
On the steering wheel, also designed with the sub-brand’s styling, the driver has several controls to manage the four energy recovery systems and the seven driving modes via Dynamic Select. All these modes keep the V8 engine active, except for the Electric mode. But if you want to continue enjoying the engine sound, this is replaced by an electronic sound that can be heard both inside and outside at low speeds and inside at high speeds.
This model will also have technological equipment that enables assisted driving in many situations. As for the price, it has not yet been made public, but it should not be long before it is announced, although it is expected to be close to 180,000 euros.
