The new CLA from Mercedes-Benz gets a facelift

The current A-Class family from Mercedes-Benz, with its components -A-Class, CLA-Class and GLA- is, to this day, one of the most successful.
However, time passes for everyone, and after the facelift of the A-Class a few months ago, it is the CLA’s turn to get an updated look.
The CLA is the smallest saloon from the star brand. It is built in parallel with the A-Class and is also the only saloon from Mercedes that uses front-wheel drive. Its very bold design, similar to that of the CLS, has enjoyed great success worldwide, although it is true that it has also drawn some criticism due to its somewhat “unusual” proportions.
Now, with this update the brand wants to correct some design elements to improve the overall image of the vehicle. Another key point of this facelift is the improvement in interior quality, which was one of the harshest criticisms the CLA received during its first years on the market.
On the outside, the new CLA adopts the front end of the A-Class, with redesigned headlights that move away from xenon and focus on LED technology. The bumper is also new, with sportier shapes, as well as the range of alloy wheels, with more modern designs. The body colour palette is also updated.

The changes follow the trend applied to the A-Class
At the rear, the changes follow the line of the front end, modifying the internal design of the tail lights, as well as the bumper, which now has a different finish. In addition, the exhaust outlets change shape to integrate better into the overall design.
In the interior, as we mentioned earlier, the changes focus on improving the build quality of the dashboard. Some materials have a better feel, while the fit between parts has been reinforced. The multimedia system is now more modern, with a slimmer and larger screen, the instrumentation is new, and the options for trim pieces have been expanded, adding, for example, matte wood.
Mechanically there are no changes, keeping the diesel options of 109, 136 and 177 CV, as well as the petrol variants of 122, 156, 184 and 218 CV. The only variant that changes its power output is the CLA 45 AMG, which increases its output to an impressive 385 CV, drawn, let us recall, from a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, retaining the honour of being the most powerful four-cylinder engine in the world.
