The new MG ZS with petrol engine announces its equipment and price for Spain

Following the arrival of the fully electric version, the MG ZS now expands its range in Spain with combustion engines, which will be petrol only

The comeback of MG and the start of sales of its models in Europe has certainly got off to a good start, especially with its ZS EV model, the fully electric version of its SUV aimed at the B-segment, which since arriving in Europe has managed to win over more than 15,000 customers and now does so in Spain too, as sales began in our country just a month ago.

The MG ZS range now expands its offering, also in our country, as the family grows with the arrival of the combustion-engined version, which is already available. The formula will be the same as that of the ZS EV: an SUV with attractive styling, backed by technology and comfort, all supported by a very competitive price that is sure to win over many buyers.

Stylistically the MG ZS will be practically similar to its fully electric version, but there will be differences, mainly at the front, where the blanked-off grille is replaced by a conventional one, which logically means the front charging flap is eliminated and a new bumper is also fitted, which now houses the fog lights at both ends with a gloss black surround.

Inside the MG ZS we will continue to enjoy its generous space and comfort, with 448 litres of boot capacity, which can be extended to 1,166 litres by folding down the seats. In Spain, standard equipment includes items such as the infotainment system with a 10.1-inch touchscreen, an air purification system for the air conditioning, and ABS brakes with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD). Added to this is the equipment included with the two available trim levels, the entry-level one being called Comfort, which includes items such as:

  • 17-inch alloy wheels in Thypoon design
  • Bi-LED front headlights
  • CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity
  • Four-speaker audio system
  • Cloth upholstery
  • Six-way adjustable driver’s seat

The second trim level is called Luxury and includes items such as:

  • 360° parking camera
  • Satellite navigation
  • Panoramic roof
  • Six-speaker audio system with 3D sound
  • Heated front seats
  • “Leather-style” upholstery with contrast stitching
  • Blind-spot warning system
  • Rear cross-traffic alert

Mechanically, the MG ZS is based on two petrol engines and front-wheel drive, both available for the two trim levels but with certain nuances that we will look at below. The first engine is the 1.5 VTI-tech, which delivers 106 CV together with 141 Nm of torque, coupled to a five-speed automatic gearbox, with combined consumption of 6.6 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 149 g/km under the WLTP test cycle.

The second engine is the three-cylinder 1.0 T-GDI unit, which provides 111 CV and 160 Nm of torque, and can be specified with a six-speed automatic gearbox for both trim levels, or with a six-speed manual gearbox only for the Luxury trim. With this engine the MG ZS records combined consumption of 6.6 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 149 g/km with the manual gearbox, while with the automatic gearbox combined consumption rises to 7.2 l/100 km and CO2 emissions to 163 g/km.

The new MG ZS is now available in Spain, with a starting price set by the brand for the Comfort trim at 15,950 euros, and from 17,950 euros for the Luxury trim.
