The new Toyota Land Cruiser 250 has arrived... Check out the image gallery!

The Toyota Land Crusier already has 70 years of history, so little can surprise us. But it doesn’t really need much to stay among the favourites of off-road drivers, with the launch of its latest version. Getting everywhere, even when the terrain is difficult and seems inaccessible, is the guiding principle of this Japanese model, which wants us to forget its most immediate rivals, the BritishLand Rover and the German Mercedes-Benz G-Class.

Over all the years it has been on the market, the Land Cruiser has evolved into three variants, called Station Wagon, Heavy Duty and the Light Duty, which is the one that houses the new 250 series, representing the model focused on Europe. This is the one that has just been presented and that wants to combine the best of the off-road essence of the model with the most current technology.

The Land Cruiser has managed to sell 11.3 million units in 170 countries, so its importance and worth are more than guaranteed. This new variant is based on the GA-F platform and has contained dimensions. The length is 4,925 mm, with a width of 1,980 mm and a height of 1,935 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,850 mm.

This allows a very attractive and comfortable interior. The windscreen is more upright and the front overhang is shorter. The headlights are higher above the ground, so they offer greater safety when driving over complicated terrain and when there is a risk to them.

The fog lights are placed on the sides of the bumper, also to prevent damage. To improve visibility from the driver’s seat, a bonnet has been designed with well-defined edges, while the centre has a concave design to facilitate vision. The A-pillar has been placed more upright, the wing mirrors are mounted on the doors and the waistline has been lowered by about 30 mm compared with the current version.

The wheels are 18-inch and buyers will have several body colours available, with a two-tone configuration and a light grey roof. There is one detail that improves its aerodynamics: a louvre has been fitted that prevents air from passing through the upper grille, offering less air resistance. Mouldings on the rear doors redirect the airflow along the sides of the vehicle, and the rear spoiler helps dissipate it at the back.

Engine

The new Toyota Land Rover 250 is equipped with a 2.8-litre turbodiesel engine, which has been redesigned to improve its operation and also achieve a better balance between performance and capabilities. It delivers 204 CV at 3,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 500 Nm between 1,600 and 2,800 rpm. It is paired with an eight-speed Direct Shift automatic gearbox.

From 2025, this model will get a mild-hybrid system, making it even more efficient. Other elements have been added to improve its manoeuvrability on difficult terrain. This variant will keep off-road enthusiasts loyal to the Land Cruiser and let them enjoy this new version of a classic model.
