Peugeot has announced an expansion of the engine range of its compact model, the 308. This is an expansion only in the field of petrol engines.

There are two additions, which complete one of the best offers in the C-segment, one of the most fiercely contested.

Both powertrains can be combined with both the hatchback body and the estate (SW) body, launched just a few months ago and enjoying great success. Both based on the well-known 1.2 PureTech from PSA, they will be offered with two power levels.

The first of these is the 1.2L PureTech 110 CV S&S, which will fully meet the needs of those looking for a smooth petrol engine, with sufficient performance and an above-average driving experience, since it offers, among other attributes, a good torque of 205 NM at just 1,500 rpm. In addition, the consumption of this small three-cylinder will surprise many, with a homologated combined figure of 4.6 litres per 100 km, equivalent to CO2 emissions of 105 g per kilometre.

The second option is the 1.2L PureTech 130 CV S&S EAT6. For the first time in Peugeot, a petrol engine with automatic gearbox is also paired with the Start&Stop system. In addition, the automatic transmission has received a new calibration so that its ease of use and smoothness of operation will satisfy the most demanding drivers. It is capable of locking the torque converter while driving, which limits slippage and delivers a more direct and pleasant throttle response.

Its combined consumption is rated at 5.1 litres, with CO2 emissions of 117 g per kilometre. It is therefore a very attractive combination for those looking for a compact petrol car with automatic transmission. The starting prices of the 308 begin at 14,900 euros.
