The Peugeot Boxer can now be equipped with an 8-speed automatic gearbox
Peugeot will begin offering its Boxer van with the AT8 automatic gearbox for the most powerful engines, providing greater comfort

When working with a vehicle, its users look for certain characteristics, which are usually capacity, functionality, practicality and, above all, comfort, because let’s remember that this type of professional often spends many hours seated behind the wheel of their vehicles. Guided by this principle, Peugeot has decided to improve its Boxer van, now equipped for the first time with an automatic gearbox.
Whether your work is in urban areas or you undertake longer journeys, what you will undoubtedly appreciate most is the comfort your vehicle provides, and an automatic gearbox certainly makes life easier in this respect. In addition, the Peugeot Boxer is also an option for people looking to convert it into a motorhome or camper, who will also cover several hundred kilometres, making it an interesting feature for this group of customers as well.

The AT8 eight-speed automatic gearbox will be specifically fitted to the Peugeot Boxer, characterised by the new clutch design that optimises the shifting through all eight gears thanks to more efficient management of engine torque. It is also equipped with a hydraulic accumulator, which makes the most of the engine’s power by reducing the gearbox’s response time and also makes the Start & Stop system work in a much smoother way.

However, to opt for the new AT8 automatic gearbox, you must choose between the BlueHDi engines with power outputs of 140 CV and 180 CV, both with Light Duty (Euro 6E) and Heavy Duty (Euro VIE) approval, the latter to allow heavier conversions. Indeed, the Boxer has significantly increased its payload capacity, especially for motorhomes, being able to reach up to 5 tonnes gross vehicle weight.

In addition, all future owners will have their needs met by being able to choose it in the L2 (with a wheelbase of 3,450 mm) and L4 (with a wheelbase of 4,040 mm) lengths, and they can also choose it with a total of four bodies offering 13 to 17 m3. Finally, if we choose the L4 base, it will also be available with an L3 or L4 chassis with a double cab or single cab.
