The Porsche 911 Speedster enters production with 1,948 units and 510 CV

The Porsche 911 Speedster arrives to bring the 991 generation of the Stuttgart brand to a close. It is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds.

The Stuttgart brand has finally unveiled the definitive production version of the Porsche 911 Speedster. This new version comes as a limited edition and thus serves as a golden finale for the 991 generation. After much speculation, the German brand has decided to present its new family member to the public at a private event.

The reveal took place ahead of the opening of the New York Auto Show at a charity event. It is important to note that this limited-production model largely retains the look of the concepts that previewed it.

The new Porsche 911 Speedster will become the last variant presented of the 991 generation of the legendary German sports car. Some sources claim that this model serves as a fitting golden finale to a “successful generation” of the legendary 911. It should be noted that, in terms of design, the model presented is not a surprise, as it respects the lines of the prototypes previously shown by the brand.

The version it most closely resembles is the one presented by the German brand at the recent Paris Motor Show. So much so that it keeps the same colour combination, but offers some distinguishing details such as the wing mirrors, which have moved from the retro style of the 911 Speedster Concept II to conventional ones, the 20″ wheels with centre lock of the Porsche GT3, or the usual interiors of the Carrera range. Porsche retains details such as the bumpers and the area behind the cabin, but has changed the fuel filler cap opening.

What powers the new Porsche 911 Speedster?

The new Porsche 911 Speedster is powered by a naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six engine paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. Its heart produces 510 CV and 469 Nm of maximum torque. These figures place it between the Porsche GT3 and the Porsche GT3 RS.

It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 309 kilometres per hour. It weighs 1,465 kilograms.

It is worth mentioning that the Porsche 911 Speedster has inherited details from the competition version of the Porsche GT3. This engine is the same one fitted to the Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet and the Porsche 911 GT3. The new model of the Porsche that closes the 991 generation features carbon-ceramic brakes and panels made from carbon fibre.

Porsche 911 Speedster, a very limited version

Only 1,948 units of the Porsche 911 Speedster will reach the market. For enthusiasts of the Stuttgart brand, this number may sound very familiar, as it is the year in which Porsche launched its first model. The Stuttgart brand has added a wristwatch designed by Porsche Design to the model.

The order book for the new Porsche 911 Speedster does not open until 7 May, so there may still be some units available. Will it become one of the most sought-after versions of the legendary Porsche 911?
