The PSA Group will launch a new model at Citroën, Opel and Peugeot

The PSA Group has revealed that it has a new people carrier ready, which will be part of the Peugeot, Opel and Citroën model lines, debuting a new platform.

Brands are growing by leaps and bounds and more often than not they are proposing new segments, mechanical advances and, at the same time, new vehicles. The news that the PSA Group was going to bring Opel into its fold shocked the automotive world, but it was a clever way of giving greater prominence to the German marque across various areas of the car industry. The French group is going to do exactly that, something that we will be able to see reflected in the new vehicle that PSA has ready to be part of the three brands.

This technique is not the first time we have seen it in action from the PSA Group, since there have already been several vehicles that have been part of several brands while sharing a substantial number of components. The three new models will correspond to the segment known as people carrier, a type of vehicle that represents small vans, which will handle both industrial and private tasks alike.

It is true that all three brands have quite extensive personal experience in this segment, but the group has decided to go further by incorporating various modern and up-to-date elements. At the same time, technology and mechanics will be the main protagonists of these new vans, which will feature that very special character of PSA.

One of the main novelties we will encounter will be the use of a completely new platform within the group, called EMP2. At the same time, this platform will not only house the main mechanical components, but also the latest autonomous driving technology being developed by the French group. Another key point in using this new platform is the amount of space it will provide to the people carriers, which will be offered in two different bodies with five or seven seats.

As regards exterior design, we will find a faithful adherence to each brand’s styling canons but with the essence of the PSA Group. However, we will find greater contrast in the cabin, where each vehicle will feature elements used in its siblings. Without a doubt, the revival of this segment will be fundamental to continuing to achieve a good number of sales, but it will benefit not only the brands themselves, but also our country’s economy.

This is because the three people carriers will be built at the Vigo plant and at the Portuguese plant, which is located in Mangualde. For the time being we do not know more details about these three future models, but it will be in a few weeks’ time when the group makes its official presentation and, at the same time, they will be present at this edition of the Geneva Motor Show.
