The renewed KIA EV6 finally arrives in the North American market with a few changes and improvements

The new 2025 KIA EV6 aimed at the North American market brings a series of significant changes and improvements that you can learn about below.

Following its launch in Europe and on the manufacturer’s domestic market a few months ago, the renewed KIA EV6 now also arrives in North America, but it does so with some important changes to adapt to the peculiarities of this market.

This renewed electric crossover from the South Korean manufacturer will not only be more efficient and advanced than its predecessor but, unlike the versions currently sold in Europe and South Korea, it will be produced in the United States. This will allow it to qualify for the tax benefits currently offered by the federal government of that country.

As with the versions on sale in Europe and South Korea, the new EV6 arriving in North America substantially improves the capacity of its battery pack. KIA now offers two versions to choose from, with a battery pack of 63 or 84 kWh capacity, improving on the 58 or 77.4 kWh of the previous generation. Range therefore increases, reaching up to 319 miles -513 km- on a single charge in the rear-wheel-drive version with the larger battery pack, according to the manufacturer.

The experience at an ultra-fast charging point with the new 2025 EV6 remains just as good, thanks to the 800V architecture the vehicle has, which makes it possible to increase the charge level from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes. One important change, however, will be found at the charging port, which has been adapted to the North American NACS standard, allowing access to the extensive Supercharger network of Tesla. For this very purpose, KIA has also relocated it, placing it on the driver’s side for greater convenience.

Hold on tight!

As for performance, while the conventional versions remain unchanged, the top model in the range, the GT, does see changes. This version now offers up to 470 kW with overboost and 770 Nm of torque, positioning it as a rival to sports cars with combustion engines at a far higher price.

As we have already seen in Europe, the renewed 2025 EV6 arriving in North America adopts a considerably more aggressive and modern design. The front end stands out markedly from anything seen before, aligning with the manufacturer’s new design language, while at the rear the lights feature stylised details. In short, this is a vehicle with a much more elegant and futuristic character.

The renewal of the new KIA EV6 is not limited, however, to the exterior design and some upgrades to its specifications. The interior has also received a notable update. The steering wheel is completely new, and the driver now has the Connected Car Navigation Cockpit navigation system at their disposal, offering high-resolution graphics, greater speed and over-the-air updates. The vehicle now also features the new Kia Connect Store, and the digital key has been improved to allow the driver to unlock and start the car remotely with ease from their smartphone.

Made in USA

As we mentioned at the start of this article, the 2025 KIA EV6 intended for the North American market will be produced in the United States, and more specifically at KIA’s plant in West Point, Georgia, where units of the EV9 sold in this market already come off the line. This will allow this South Korean manufacturer’s crossover to qualify for the federal government’s $7,500 tax credit. The only exception, however, will be the GT version, which will continue to be imported from South Korea.
