Rolls-Royce finally unveils the Ghost Series II, the update towards greater use of technology in the British saloon

It will be presented in a few days in the city of art and fashion, Paris, during the celebration of the Motor Show in that city, where many brands will gather and where a work of art such as the Ghost cannot be missing, the Rolls-Royce saloon that is now unveiled with a series of aesthetic and technological changes focused mainly on the interior, and it is that the English brand wants the Ghost to focus more than ever on its occupants.

It was already necessary for the Rolls-Royce Ghost to undergo a facelift and it has finally arrived, and as we can see it is not too profound and general but it is evident. In fact, the Ghost Series II focuses its exterior changes on the front. As we can see, its headlights receive more stylized lines and, while at it, a new light signature with integrated daytime running lights in an “L” shape, which also align perfectly with the straight lines of the bumper and the new continuous lower air intake, a set framed by the illuminated Pantheon grille and emphasizing its 2,148 mm width.

Although the majority of the changes are at the front, that does not mean the Rolls-Royce Ghost Series II has only subtle changes at the rear. In fact, we will find a new light signature for the rear light cluster, which does not change in shape, a new design that, incidentally, is inspired by the one on the Spectre. Future owners of the Ghost Series II will also be able to choose between two new wheel finishes of 22 inches and 9 spokes, which can be partially polished or fully polished, plus a new body color that joins the more than 44,000 available shades of the brand, not counting those offered by the Bespoke personalization service.

If we now look at the interior of the new Rolls-Royce Ghost Series II, we will see that the design line remains the same, with no changes, but if we look at the center console we will see that it now embraces technology even more by incorporating a new screen that runs across the entire dashboard, covered by glass, and which combines information both digitally and analogically so as not to lose that classic feeling necessary in every Rolls-Royce, and which, obviously, we can customize to our liking. In this sense, entertainment and connectivity have also been improved, with the possibility, in the rear seats, of now connecting up to two streaming devices to the rear screens so that each can be independent of the other.

Along with the improvements, future owners will also have greater customization options, and Rolls-Royce has incorporated new materials both in terms of wood for the inlays, which combine perfectly with the new screens, and also new fabrics such as Duality Twill, which took more than a year of development until it was decided it would be part of the Ghost Series II. The brand will even allow a new perforation technique for the leather covering the seats. Without leaving the interior, it is also worth highlighting that there will be an Extended version with 170 mm of extra space for the rear seats and the option to fit Serenity Seating reclining seats.

What does not change is the heart of the Rolls-Royce Ghost Series II, and under its hood we will still find the spectacular 6.75-liter twin-turbo V12 engine, which delivers a power of 571 CV, sent to all four wheels through the eight-speed automatic gearbox. The only change, so to speak, that Rolls-Royce has made to the Ghost Series II is the recalibration of the Planar suspension, which uses electronically controlled continuously variable dampers.
