The SEAT Ateca Cupra is being tuned at the Nürburgring
The Cupra version of the SEAT Ateca could offer around 300 CV of power. It would become the most affordable performance SUV on the market.

The new SEAT Ateca Cupra appears to be finalising its tuning in the best possible setting, the Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit. The arrival of what will be the most affordable performance SUV is eagerly awaited, although its launch date could face delays compared with the original plan (late 2017).
The design of the new Ateca Cupra may still undergo some changes, but the following video already shows some differences from the base model. The images show sporty bumpers, a four-outlet exhaust system, large tyres and high-precision brakes.

SEAT has not yet revealed the powertrain the Ateca Cupra will use, but rumours suggest it could use the same 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine found in the current Leon Cupra. The updated version of this engine produces 300 CV of power and 380 Nm of torque in the compact sports car; figures that could be carried over to the Ateca Cupra, which would allow the performance SUV to reach 100 km/h in around 6 seconds.
The SEAT Ateca Cupra was first seen on public roads six months ago, curiously during the presentation of the SEAT León in Barcelona. The Spanish brand intended to present what will be the most affordable performance SUV on the market at the end of 2017, but everything points to its launch date being pushed back; the strong commercial performance of the Ateca has led the brand to prefer serving customers of the standard versions before launching a new high-performance version.

Until the sportiest SEAT SUV reaches the market, customers can buy the FR version of the Ateca, a variant powered by a TFSI petrol engine offering between 150 CV and 190 CV of power.
