The Toyota bZ4x is being redesigned to try to win more buyers
The Toyota bZ4x has been updated for 2025 and offers several improvements in terms of battery and range, as well as changes to the cabin.

A few months ago, news broke that the Toyota bZ4x was not achieving the expected results in the international market. One of the causes being considered was the name, which did not encourage purchase. But although we do not know whether the name will change, it has been announced that a partial redesign of the model is possible, aiming to make it more appealing to future buyers.
One of the most important changes will concern the battery. The basic battery available in the bZ4x will have a capacity of 57.7 kWh. This lithium-ion battery is the same one available in the Toyota C-HR+ and will be reserved for the front-wheel-drive version only.

This version uses an electric motor on the front axle that delivers 123 kW, equivalent to 165 CV, and with which a range of 445 kilometres is achieved under the WLTP cycle. But this will not be the only version of the bZ4x that we will find on the market.
These two versions will have a battery with a larger capacity, of 73.1 kWh. In terms of power, the less powerful one offers 165 kW, that is, 221 CV, and its range is rated at 573 kilometres, also under the WLTP cycle. At the top of the range we find a version with all-wheel drive and a power output of 252 kW, equivalent to 338 CV. The range in this case is 520 kilometres.

Better batteries and more efficient motors
The battery packs have been considerably improved and a higher energy density has been implemented, with more cells available in each one. The electric motors have become more efficient, with new elements such as silicon carbide semiconductors.
Battery charging has also been optimised to make it easier to charge the car even in very low temperature conditions. The alternating current charger has a capacity of 22 kW instead of 11 kW, which is the current power. However, direct current charging remains at 150 kW. With this power, a charge from 10 to 80% is achieved in about 30 minutes.
The towing capacity has doubled, so the Toyota bZ4x is now capable of towing a trailer of 1,500 kg. As for the exterior, there are no major changes. The aerodynamics of the model have been improved, but most of the elements remain the same. Where work has really been done is in the cabin.
The most notable feature is a 14-inch screen through which the various vehicle elements are controlled. Among them, the air conditioning, which is now included in the system controlled by the screen.
