Dacia Peugeot Tata Electric Cars Curiosities SUV
The Tunisian brand Wallyscar arrives in the European market

That’s right: Tunisia has decided to attempt the assault on the European market with low-end cars at a fairly affordable price, in the same way that Dacia has managed to break into the market partly thanks to the economic crisis and the support of Renault. Wallyscar, the brand from the African country, has begun selling in France its first and only model, a low-performance, small-sized off-roader that starts at €10,500.
Wallyscar is completely inspired by the Jeep classics: the front grille and the headlights are a copy. Otherwise it is a manageable off-roader, little more than a luxury beach buggy. Open-top and modern, if Suzuki has managed to sell the Jimny there is no reason why Wallyscar cannot win a certain market share in some segment of the French population.
3.34 metres in length, 1.68 in width and a wheelbase of 2.10 metres make it simply 20 centimetres wider than a SEAT Panda. With an engine of only 75 CV and 1.4 litres made by Peugeot, it delivers poor but not scandalously negative results: a combined consumption of 7 litres and a top speed of 140 km/h. This is partly due to the vehicle’s light weight, less than one tonne. For now there will only be two versions and a third electric one, due out at the end of the year.
In short, another bet born of the economic crisis: a €10,000 off-roader. Dacia has taken advantage of that momentum, and Tata is desperate for the success of Renault’s subsidiary. There are no plans for expansion into the rest of Europe for now, but if the results are good in France, they won’t be long in coming.
