The upcoming Ford Focus ST is spotted running around the Nürburgring without any attempt to hide its look

Ford is about to launch the new generation of the Focus ST, a performance version has been spotted running at full speed around the Nürburgring.

The next generation of performance compacts has a very complicated task ahead: offering a power range higher than that of their predecessors without encroaching on higher segments. Among all the brands that specialise in this sector, it seems that Ford is the first to be ready to take the step. The new Focus stands out not only as one of the most balanced compacts on the market, as we were already able to verify, but also as one of the most performance-oriented in its sportier variants, such as the ST.

These initials have once again been used for the fourth generation of the American compact, and they have given life to a much more radical Focus that has already been seen running around the Nürburgring with little camouflage, a clear sign that its arrival is imminent. In this way, we can see that Ford is the company that has moved ahead of its rivals, with the arrival of a sports car ready to surpass its predecessors.

Ford has gone to the testing ground par excellence for vehicles with sporty tuning, the Green Hell. It was in the surroundings and inside this same circuit that the future Focus ST was spotted, promising a much more aggressive and exhilarating look than the previous generation and a power range set to deliver driving that is both fun and exciting.

The styling of the upcoming Ford Focus ST treats us to a front end featuring the emblem of this version, and a more pronounced splitter, accompanied by a wider and more imposing grille. The side has been dressed with larger wheels, which aim to tell the world that this is no ordinary Focus. Finally, the rear features a spoiler that anticipates a more radical tuning and a new diffuser housing two side exhaust outlets.

The mechanics of the new Ford Focus ST remain a mystery to us, but we can guess that under the bonnet there will be an engine capable of delivering 300 CV of power. A four-cylinder unit will likely be offered, but with a smaller displacement than the previous model, thus allowing much more modest consumption despite the performance that the sports compact from Ford will declare.

In this way, the American brand once again confirms that one of its most iconic sagas is returning stronger than ever and, although we still don’t know what Ford has in store for the RS variant of the Focus, we can rest easy with the arrival of the new ST, a model that promises to revolutionise the sports compact segment.
