The US Congress proposes a loan of 15,000 million dollars for Detroit's three groups

The US Congress has proposed a deal that will be voted on next Tuesday to grant a loan of 15,000 million dollars to Detroit’s Big 3 (Chrysler, General Motors and Ford Motor Company). The amount is noticeably lower than the 34,000 million initially requested, but it will serve to avoid bankruptcy.

With that money, the three American car groups will be able to survive until March, and by then, Barack Obama will already be in the White House and will make decisions about the future of the automotive industry in the United States. It seems like a glimmer of hope for the manufacturers, but possibly not so much for the workers, since with less money than requested, the shortfall will have to be found somewhere else, and their jobs are usually the common resource.
