The Volkswagen Multivan T7 begins production in Hannover
The German factory of Volkswagen has already begun producing the new Multivan T7, one of the brand’s most anticipated models alongside the electric ID.BUZZ.

Last June, the new generation of the classic Volkswagen Multivan was unveiled. Now, the Volkswagen plant in Hannover announces that the first units of this van have already started rolling off the production line. The moment when we will see this model on our roads and on the streets of European cities is approaching.
Although producing this model has been a major effort for everyone involved, the factory has been able to present this renewed and very attractive vehicle. The Hannover plant has also undergone a renovation of many of its manufacturing processes and has benefited from a multi-million-euro investment to take on the production of this model and others such as the Volkswagen ID.BUZZ.

Improvements at the Hannover plant
This plant has undergone a fairly major renovation, improving its processes. For example, the body shop that built this component for the previous generation of the Multivan, the T6.1, had 77% automation, while after the most recent modification this automation reaches 93%.
A paint priming system has also been inaugurated, which makes it possible to coat the bodywork in two colours. There is also an improved system for transporting parts inside the factory. Automated vehicles speed up the manufacturing process, as they bring parts from the warehouse to points along the production line.
The new Volkswagen Multivan is the first vehicle of the brand built on the new MQB platform to be manufactured in Hannover, so the plant’s staff had to receive training to handle this production. In addition, it is the first to receive a plug-in hybrid drive system, and it is one of the brand’s most popular models, so the responsibility is very high.
To manage this process, workers have received continuous training, and they will also be responsible for producing three emblematic models of the brand, the T6.1, the ID.BUZZ and the Multivan T7, each on a different platform and with different drive systems.
