Toyota Mirai: the 2nd generation arrives with three hydrogen tanks
In its constant pursuit of zero emissions across its fleet, Toyota is renewing the first-generation Mirai by giving it three tanks and up to 650 km of range

Toyota Spain is preparing an exciting renewal for its fleet of Mirai vehicles, which it has been testing over the past few years thanks to partners such as Cabify, who are also working to promote hydrogen as an energy carrier in Spain. Toyota Spain has been working closely with Sumitomo Corporation España. But now, Sumitomo Corporation España is not alone, as Enagás, Urbaser and Carburos Metálicos are also joining this exciting initiative.
Sumitomo Corporation España was the first company to receive the new generation of the Toyota Mirai, and in the near future, Enagás, Urbaser and Carburos Metálicos will also receive their new Mirai vehicles. These vehicles have undergone upgrades, renewing their first-generation powertrain and adding an additional hydrogen motor.

With the introduction of the second generation of the Mirai, the companies collaborating with Toyota Spain in promoting hydrogen as an energy source will have vehicles with greater range and efficiency thanks to the brand and its fuel cell technology.
Sumitomo Corporation España has already driven more than 7,000 kilometres in its first-generation Mirai, resulting in a reduction of 842 kg of CO2 emissions. Now, with the new second-generation Mirai, the amount of emissions avoided is expected to be even greater, as these cars are expected to cover a greater distance each year and this new model offers 10% lower consumption.

The new Mirai, launched in spring 2021, marked a turning point in the brand’s commitment to zero emissions and its cutting-edge technologies. In addition to its completely redesigned look, this vehicle continues to offer zero emissions.
Three hydrogen tanks and up to 650 km of range
Thanks to its redesigned fuel cell system, an intelligent configuration and greater aerodynamic efficiency, the second-generation Mirai can achieve a range of up to 650 kilometres, emitting only water vapour, with a refuelling time of 3 to 5 minutes.

Compared with the previous generation, the new Mirai has three hydrogen tanks instead of two, which increases its capacity by 22% (5.6 kg) and offers a 30% greater range (650 km according to WLTP). In addition, it is 9% more powerful (134 kW / 180 CV DIN) and has a fuel cell with 12% more power (128 kW). Its lithium-ion battery has an energy density 27% higher (CC 310.8 V). It also features 10% lower consumption (0.79 kg/100 km).
One of the most striking features of the second-generation Mirai is its ability to compare the kilometres driven with the purified air it produces, which is equivalent to purifying the air a person breathes over a year with just 10,000 kilometres driven.

The commitment of Toyota Spain and its partners to hydrogen technology is revolutionising the fuel cell electric vehicle market in Spain, and the second-generation Mirai is an example of its vision for a more sustainable and cleaner future.
