Volkswagen Caddy, a new version of the commercial van designed for people
The fifth generation of the Volkswagen Caddy arrives with greater comfort for the driver and passengers without losing its load capacity and with more space

One of the most popular models of Volkswagen in the commercial vehicle market is the Caddy. The veteran van from the German brand arrives in its fifth generation and, although we had seen some conceptual sketch a few weeks ago, now the presentation of the definitive model has arrived. And to make it worth getting to know this new version of a modern classic, work has been done on its appearance.
Although it remains the van that may interest many self-employed workers, its look is closer to an everyday car than to a commercial vehicle in the strict sense. Part of this is due to the MQB platform, which has been used, for example, in the Volkswagen Golf and the SEAT León. On this basis a new version is built that meets all the requirements of previous generations and focuses even more on comfort for the driver.

Commercial and family vehicle
The Volkswagen Caddy features a front end that brings it very close to the models of the Volkswagen group, but at the rear it retains the spirit of a load vehicle that must remain part of its identity. In fact, there are several body variants: a Cargo version designed for transport and loading; another designed for passenger transport, and several car-derived versions.

Three trim levels are available: Caddy, Life and Style, where buyers can choose extras that improve comfort for occupants: power-operated rear opening, panoramic roof, alloy wheels up to 18 inches and a keyless entry and start system. In addition, you can opt for a multimedia screen for the instrument cluster.
The 6.5-inch information and entertainment screen can be upgraded to 10 inches, and the driver assistance systems include Travel Assist for assisted driving; Trailer Assist to make towing a trailer easier, and Side Assist, with rear traffic alert.
In terms of load capacity, the largest version offers room for two pallets, so it serves both for cargo work and for transporting passengers.
Diesel and petrol versions
The diesel option is usually the preferred one for this type of vehicle, so Volkswagen has chosen two engines of these characteristics. For this they have used a diesel engine with SVR double catalyst that feature a double injection of AdBlue. Power in this range goes from 90 to 122 CV.
In petrol, there is a 1.0 TSI petrol engine that delivers 116 CV and a TGI version running on compressed natural gas. With this version you can obtain the ECO environmental label from the DGT and benefit from all its advantages. Prices for the Volkswagen Caddy range from 19,045 to 32,628 euros, depending on engine and trim.
