Volkswagen Golf GTI BBS Concept: a GTI with 80s sporty flair. What could possibly go wrong?
This Golf 8 GTI features iconic elements inspired by the legendary Golf GTI MK2, giving it a very cool, sporty look with that 80s essence.

The first-generation Volkswagen Golf GTI was born in 1976, presented as the perfect compact with a sporty character. Now, 45 years after the launch of the GTI Mk1, we have with us the eighth generation of the model, a car that keeps its DNA just like all past generations, but on this occasion our protagonist, named GTI BBS Concept, wants to emphasise that the passing of the years is no reason to forget its pure essence.
This concept is the result of the collaboration between Volkswagen and the Wolfsburg brand enthusiast Jamie Orr, creating a car that presents itself as the perfect combination of past and present, with a style that takes us back to the 80s, full of personality.

With 80s touches
At the front, a decal on the bonnet immediately catches the eye, made up of several black and red stripes (the GTI’s identifying colours) with the BBS logo. Besides giving its name to this GTI BBS Concept, the brand has put its masterful touch on it. A distinctive feature is that the fog lights have been wrapped in yellow, a very 80s trait, when cars came equipped as standard with yellow fog lights, and some people still do this on their cars today.
Its side is, without doubt, the most distinctive part of the car thanks to its crown jewels: BBS Super RS 19-inch wheels in gold with a chrome lip, fitted with Delinte tyres in 235/35 R19. To achieve the perfect stance, a coilover suspension signed by H&R has been fitted, lowering the car and giving it a very Stance look. Finally, together with the bonnet vinyl, a thin red and black stripe runs along the upper part of the doors, once again with the BBS logo.

Level exhaust system
At the rear, thanks to the lowered height and the new sporty exhaust system developed by Borla Exhaust with a sublime sound, it gains a more sporty and aggressive appearance than a conventional Golf 8 GTI, completing the look of this lovely nod to the model’s past.
Under its bonnet, Volkswagen and Jamie Orr decided to keep the model’s original mechanics: the 2.0 TSI with 245 CV and 370 Nm of torque, combined with a six-speed manual gearbox, allowing it to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 km/h.
