Volkswagen ID.4: new images and first details of VW's electric SUV
The Volkswagen ID.4 is an electric SUV with up to 500 km of range, due to reach the market at the end of this same year.
Although it has already been seen earlier in camouflaged prototypes, Volkswagen now reveals some real images and sketches of the ID.4 that give us a more realistic idea of what the electric SUV the German brand will put on sale at the end of this same year will look like. Let us recall that the VW ID.4 is based on the ID.Crozz prototype.

By then, the first electric car from Volkswagen, the new VW ID.3, will already be on our streets and roads. The ID.4 will be the brand’s second electric car, and also the second model to use the MEB modular electric drive platform.
Aerodynamics: the key to a range of more than 500 km
Like the ID.3, the ID.4 will also offer different battery versions and, therefore, different ranges. But due to its SUV body, it will not be able to reach the 550 km announced for the compact model. Even so, very carefully designed aerodynamics is one of the keys for the VW ID.4 to announce a range of up to 500 km, which is not bad at all.

It will initially be launched in a front-wheel-drive version, but the brand already announces that there will also be a four-wheel-drive version, for which two electric motors will be used, one on each axle. The high-voltage battery, as in all vehicles with the MEB platform, is placed in a low and flat position.
For the moment there are no real images of the interior, of which Volkswagen claims it will offer very good habitability, taking advantage of the advantages that electric cars allow thanks to the compactness of the propulsion system. As in the ID.3, the instrument cluster will be fully digital.

The new Volkswagen ID.4 will be manufactured and sold in Europe, China and the USA, starting at the end of this same year.
The price of the Volkswagen ID.4
As for the price, a starting point would be the ID.3, which in its basic version, with a 125 CV motor and a 45 kWh battery, will be close to 30,000 euros. We suggest as the minimum advisable version for the ID.4 the variant with a 145 CV motor and a 58 kWh battery, a configuration that for the ID.3 comes to around 36,000 euros, which will bring the possible ID.4 Pro closer to 40,000 euros.
The race towards electrification
Volkswagen thus continues its electrification process, which will lead the brand to invest more than 1,000 million euros. Together with the ID.3 and the ID.4, Volkswagen has also just presented the Touareg R and the new Golf GTE, both with plug-in hybrid technology.
