ID.5 Volkswagen Electric Cars SUV
Volkswagen unveils the new ID.5 and ID.5 GTX in the open
With a really appealing SUV coupé design, a long range and state-of-the-art technology, Wolfsburg’s new flagship models make their debut

Volkswagen has just unveiled its new ID.5 and ID.5 GTX after many months of development and spy shots. This car is set to become the electrified flagship of the Wolfsburg brand, positioned above its smaller siblings, the ID.3 and ID.4, with which it shares its platform.
Featuring a SUV Coupé body, the new ID.5 boasts a modern and genuinely attractive look, following the design language the brand has recently applied across its new models.
Plenty of appeal
At the front, the new ID.5 has a look practically identical to that of the ID.4, though with a different bumper that gives it a subtly more aggressive and muscular touch.

From the side, the short overhangs, large wheels and smooth, flowing lines give this new SUV, almost 4.6 metres long, an elegant and athletic profile, qualities it owes in no small part to the coupé-style sloping roofline.
At the rear, the darkened LED tail lights, together with the sporty spoiler on the edge of the boot, complete the well-judged image of these new SUVs.

Interior
Having taken in the exterior, it is time to step inside, where we find a simple, uncluttered cabin with everything within easy reach, thanks to a central hub dominated by a 12-inch touchscreen mounted at the top of the dashboard and a fully digital 5.3-inch instrument cluster.
As standard equipment, the new ID.5 features an ambient lighting system with 10 colours which, combined with the above, creates a high-tech and very modern atmosphere, along with sporty seats upholstered in eco-friendly materials.

Furthermore, thanks to over-the-air (OTA) updates, the new Volkswagen ID.5 will always stay up to date with the latest connectivity features, including systems such as We Connect ID, which lets you check vehicle data such as range or charge level while the car is plugged in.
Three versions available
As for the engine line-up, there are three versions in total. The entry-level variant is called Pro, producing 174 CV, 310 Nm of torque and a maximum range of 520 kilometres on the WLTP cycle.

Second comes the §h37;Pro Performance version, producing 204 CV, 310 Nm of torque and a maximum range of 520 kilometres (WLTP), the same as the base version.
Finally, representing the top of the range, Volkswagen offers the GTX version, which delivers 300 CV and 310 Nm of torque like its siblings, with a slightly reduced range of 480 kilometres (WLTP).

Another major新 feature of the ID.5 is the ability to charge at up to 135 kW, making it possible to gain more than 300 kilometres of range with just half an hour of charging.
Volkswagen has not yet given further details on the exact date the new ID.5 will arrive in our market, although we do know it will arrive sometime in 2022, so we can only wait for the Wolfsburg brand to reveal more details such as its arrival and prices.
