A preview of the new T6 Volkswagen to be unveiled in April

An anniversary, a milestone or any other notable event in a model’s history helps to rekindle interest in it ahead of its own renewal. Chevrolet applied this a few days ago with the 2016 Camaro, whose first details were preceded by a statement noting that the fifth generation will reach the half a million units built mark this month.

Something very similar has happened to the most famous van of Volkswagen. The German brand recently recalled that the Transporter turns 65 years old in 2015, and shortly after released the first official preview of its sixth generation. The Volkswagen T6 is scheduled to be presented to the public on April 15 at the upcoming Amsterdam Motor Show.

The sketch of the new T6 only shows a partial view of the vehicle, revealing how the rear glass will lose its oblique lower corners to adopt a simple trapezoidal shape, new style lines appear on the tailgate, the silhouette of the rear lights gains some edge, and the tailgate handle as well as the bumper will change design.

Tristar 1

The image of the front is expected to resemble that of the Tristar Concept prototype that Volkswagen showcased at the last Paris Motor Show to mark the thirtieth anniversary of the Transporter Syncro. This will give it a more serious and modern expression thanks to the new LED headlights and the slightly modified bonnet.

Its engines should not differ too much from those offered in the new Passat B8, but for now we are left with the fact that Volkswagen will launch the T6 onto the market during the second half of 2015. The model will be manufactured at the Hanover plant in Germany, as has been the case since 1956.
