Ana Al-Thani's Koenigsegg CCXR Special One bids us farewell after suffering an accident
The Koenigsegg CCXR Special One is a model unique in the world thanks to its distinctive turquoise paint but, unfortunately, it has suffered an accident.

When we talk about the automotive world reflecting an exclusivity more akin to works of art, we point to vehicles such as this Koenigsegg CCXR Special One as an example. It is true that the Swedish firm offers a range of vehicles that are already special in their own right, but that trait can be accentuated even further by requesting that our car be unique in exchange for a considerable outlay. That was the situation facing Ana Al-Thani, an Arab sheikh, son of the Emir of Qatar and based in Mexico, who is better known as Don_Koenigsegg, a pseudonym he uses on social media to showcase his impressive collection of vehicles which, unfortunately, has just suffered a loss.
Many of us have witnessed Ana Al-Thani proudly showing off one of the most striking pieces in his garage, the Koenigsegg CCXR Special One. That name referred to a one-off built by the Swedish manufacturer whose sole recipient was the Arab sheikh, who has just suffered an accident while driving through the streets of Mexico behind the wheel of his brand-new supercar.
A model unique in the world

It is true that Christian von Koenigsegg, the brand’s founder, put no obstacles in the way of anyone requesting the construction of a CCX. However, the most loyal clients with the greatest purchasing power were also offered the chance to acquire a unit unique in the world, a situation that was put to the protagonist of our article.
Initially, the Koenigsegg CCX featured a 4.7-litre V8 engine with twin superchargers capable of producing 817 CV of power and 920 Nm of torque. Although the figures offered by Christian’s supercar were already spectacular, it was decided to surpass that threshold with the so-called CCXR, a more radical variant that was taken as the basis for the Special One.
That version drew on the same heart as the standard CCX, except that this time ethanol could be used as its main fuel , thereby releasing more power. Thanks to a series of adjustments, the firm managed to get the CCXR to deliver 1,038 CV and a whopping 1,080 Nm of torque, figures that catapulted the Swedish supercar to 100 km/h in just 3.1 seconds and allowed it to declare a top speed of 400 km/h.
These performance figures were also reflected in the Special One, a vehicle characterised by a turquoise hue that had never before graced the bodywork of a Koenigsegg. At the same time, this colour was also used for the interior upholstery, thus seeking to further enhance the exclusivity of this CCXR, unique in the world.
The fateful accident
Unfortunately, the CCXR has suffered an accident while driving through the streets of Mexico and, although the reasons remain unknown, considerable damage to its structure can be seen. At first glance we notice significant deformation at the front, which directly affects the complex door opening mechanism.

The rear has also been affected by the energy generated by the impact, though to a lesser extent, as it appears to have held its composure better. The condition of the vehicle’s occupants is unknown, but considering the incident appears to have occurred near a city, we hope its severity was not harmful to them.
