The Italian manufacturer that returned to the market just a few months ago with the ATS GT is now venturing into the world of competition with this racing model

Some brands, after disappearing from the market for years, come back with force and want to make their presence felt. In recent years we have seen a few of them, but we want to focus on ATS, a brand that returned to the market not long ago. The presentation of the ATS GT was the starting point of this company’s new chapter. Now, it wants to end the year with a supercar designed to compete in different events. The name of this car is ATS Corsa RR Turbo, and it is nothing short of spectacular.

It was developed by the ATS Corsa division and, although it might seem like a racing version of the ATS GT, it is a completely different design with performance aimed at delivering much more demanding track behavior. The previous model used a twin-turbo 3.8-litre V8 engineMcLaren, but for this racing model the choice was an engine supplied by Honda, a four-cylinder 2.0-litre unit, designed to deliver very strong results on track.

Engine management is handled by a Hondata ECU, which gets the unit to produce 600 CV and a maximum torque of 530 Nm. The 3MO FTX six-speed sequential gearbox with a limited-slip differential sends all that power to the rear axle. ATS has not published the car’s performance figures, but given its low weight, just 780 kg, and a power-to-weight ratio of 1.3 kg/CV, the numbers are expected to be very tight.

The chromium-molybdenum space-frame chassis weighs just 40 kg, not counting the roll cage, and the bodywork is also made from lightweight materials, including carbon fibre. Customers will be able to control all this power with Brembo brakes featuring four-piston calipers and steel discs, or with ultralight ATS-Sicom monobloc calipers with 350 mm ceramic discs.

This car can take part in most FIA competitions in Europe and will be available to buyers in spring 2020 at a starting price of 110,000 euros before taxes.
