Audi A8 2016: greater efficiency in the diesel engines

Audi A8 Sport

The luxurious Audi A8, the most complete premium saloon from Audi, is updated in an MY 2016 version, introducing a new trim and equipment level and renewing its best-selling turbodiesel engine, the 3.0-litre TDI. The Executive Sport trim level disappears in favour of the new Sport designation, which is more complete and comes with more equipment.

Firstly, the Audi A8 Sport features a sportier exterior, styled by the S-Line package, which includes new bumpers and sills with a sportier cut, along with a set of 19-inch alloy wheels with seven double spokes. Although it will not arrive on the long-wheelbase Audi A8, the Sport trim will also bring the German manufacturer’s MatrixBeam full LED headlights into the A8 range, along with a 600-watt Bose sound system with wireless internet connectivity, among other features.

At a lower level, and as the entry point into the range, the Audi A8 receives double-glazed windows and side glass for greater comfort inside the cabin, blocking out annoying external noise, Valcona leather upholstery, a 180-watt audio system, full LED headlights, an HDD navigation system and the latest generation of the MMI touch-based infotainment system from Audi.

The last part of the MY 2016 update to the Audi A8 affects the 3.0-litre TDI engine, which rises from 254 hp to 258 hp thanks to improved electronic management, while CO2 emissions drop from 155 g/km to 149 g/km. In addition, the 4.2-litre TDI V8 engine also improves. It retains its original 380 hp, but emissions are reduced to 189 g/km. The rest of the range remains unchanged, with the top of the A8 range being the 6.3-litre W12 petrol engine producing 493 hp.
