BMW delivers the first units of the new iX3 ahead of schedule

Initially, the new BMW iX3 was not expected to reach the streets and roads of Europe until next 7 March.

Although the official launch of the first production model of the Neue Klasse was initially scheduled for next 7 March, the Bavarian manufacturer has surprised everyone by delivering a limited number of units of the new iX3 to selected customers in the German city of Munich ahead of time.

At an exclusive event held at the BMW Welt in Munich, the Bavarian manufacturer handed over these first units just over a month before its new all-electric SUV from the Neue Klasse begins arriving at dealerships. At that point, customers will be able to take their first test drives to make up their minds about purchasing this new vehicle.

Among the fortunate new owners of the iX3 who received these first units in Munich were well-known figures such as actors Kostja Ullmann and Christoph Maria Herbst, as well as model Lena Gercke, the brand’s ambassador for many years.

A practically perfect start for the BMW Neue Klasse

Following its public presentation in September 2025 at the IAA Mobility in Munich, BMW began series production of the new iX3 one month later, in October 2025, at the company’s new plant in the Hungarian town of Debrecen.

Interest in the iX3 has exceeded all expectations since then, as we have already told you here at HighMotor. And all this considering that until now all orders have been placed practically blind, since the vehicle has not yet reached dealerships, and test drives are not possible at the moment. All that exists are the images and videos that can be seen online and on the manufacturer’s website.

The high level of demand this first model of the Neue Klasse is generating has led the Bavarian manufacturer to speed up production, adding a second shift at the Debrecen plant much earlier than initially planned. From next 7 March, customers will be able to start visiting any BMW dealership to finally see the vehicle in person, sit behind the wheel, take test drives and finalise the purchase if they wish.

Sales of the new iX3 will initially start with the iX3 50 xDrive version with dual electric motors, with a base price slightly below 70,000 euros. Subsequently, other versions are expected to reach the market, some of them even more affordable, with a single electric motor and rear-wheel drive at a price that could be around 60,000 euros.
