BYD launches the Dolphin G DM-I in Spain, the plug-in hybrid for the village
Following its presentation a few days ago, BYD delivers on its promise and launches the Dolphin G DM-I in Spain, a plug-in hybrid with an urban character

A few days ago, BYD announced a possible earthquake with the arrival of the new Dolphin G DM-I, a new model from the Japanese brand in the urban segment, with which they promised the definitive plug-in hybrid for the village. Indeed, it carries a hybrid system more typical of larger segments. As promised, the brand has not delayed it too much, so it is now available in Spain.
Let us recall that the BYD Dolphin G DM-I is presented with the latest evolution of the design language applied by the brand and inspired by the ocean, characterised by smooth lines at the front, full LED lights and a floating roof design. All this styling is applied to a length of 4,160 mm and a wheelbase of 2,610 mm, figures that will make most manoeuvres in urban environments easier.

Not only that, these figures also help maximise interior space and carry five people, not forgetting a generous boot with 425 litres of capacity, which includes a 45-litre compartment under the floor, and which can be extended to 1,225 litres if the rear seats are folded down. In Spain it will be offered in four trim levels with standout equipment, including elements such as the following:
- Active:
- Blade Battery with 7.42 kWh of capacity
- 16-inch alloy wheels
- Front and rear parking sensors
- Rear-view camera
- 10.1-inch touchscreen
- Automatic air conditioning
- Adaptive cruise control
- Intelligent cruise control
- Emergency lane keeping assist
- Unintended lane change warning
- Front and rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking function
- Blind spot detection
- Driver monitoring system
- Door opening warning
- Boost:
- Blade Battery with 18.3 kWh of capacity
- Heated front seats and steering wheel
- 12.8-inch central screen
- Electrically folding mirrors
- 15 W wireless smartphone charging
- 8-speaker sound system
- V2L technology
- Comfort:
- Google Maps
- Google Assistant
- 18-inch alloy wheels
- Head-Up Display with panoramic projection on the windscreen
- Panoramic roof with electrically adjustable sunshade
- 360° camera
- Electrically adjustable seats
- Electric lumbar adjustment for the driver’s seat
- Sport:
- Specific badges
- Darkened 18-inch alloy wheels
- Exclusive two-tone upholstery

Mechanically, the BYD Dolphin G DM-I uses a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 95 CV, which keeps the Blade Battery charged or assists the electric motor when strong acceleration is demanded, along with a permanent-magnet synchronous electric motor that develops 163 CV. This hybrid system can be paired with the 7.42 kWh battery if you choose the Active trim, which offers 40 km of electric range and 1,020 km of combined total range or, for the remaining trims, the 18.3 kWh battery, which provides up to 105 km of electric range or 1,040 km of combined total range.

The BYD Dolphin G DM-I can already be ordered at the brand’s dealerships in Spain, with a price starting from 18,700 euros, which includes a commercial discount, a Plan Auto+ discount and a financing offer. If you do not take up the financing, the price starts from 21,500 euros and, finally, if you cannot access the Plan Auto+ either, the retail price starts from 25,200 euros.
