Citroën adds an extended-range version of the ë-C3 Aircross to its lineup

This new version of the ë-C3 Aircross combines greater range with the attractive design and practicality that have made this model a benchmark in the compact SUV market.

The long-awaited ë-C3 Aircross with extended range is here: an improved version of the French manufacturer’s popular compact SUV that incorporates a higher-capacity battery pack, thanks to which it is possible to cover around 100 additional kilometres compared with the standard version.

This new model, already available in Germany, will be of great interest to anyone looking for a practical, affordable electric vehicle that can take them anywhere.

The extended-range ë-C3 Aircross features a new 50 kWh net-capacity battery pack, which now allows up to 400 km on a single charge under the WLTP homologation cycle. This is, in principle, the same battery pack used in the new extended-range version of the Opel Frontera, although the German manufacturer quotes a capacity of 54 kWh. This discrepancy may be because Opel refers to gross capacity, whereas Citroën refers to net capacity.

Everything also suggests that this battery pack is the same LFP-chemistry unit fitted to the revamped Citroën ë-Berlingo, which would allow Stellantis to significantly reduce costs by integrating it into several models across different brands in the group.

Everything else remains the same

Apart from the new battery pack, the propulsion system remains unchanged from the standard model, delivering the same 83 kW of power, with a top speed limited to 143 km/h. The towing capacity, on the other hand, is now 550 kilograms, which is sufficient to meet the basic needs of owners of a vehicle like this.

As for design, there are no changes to the bodywork, so the extended-range ë-C3 Aircross retains the versatility and interior space that characterise this segment B SUV.

In Germany, the price of this version of the ë-C3 Aircross starts at €30,690, an increase of roughly 4,000 euros over the version with the 44 kWh battery, which offers 300 kilometres of range and has a base price of €26,490. However, these 4,000 euros do not correspond exclusively to the increase in battery capacity, since this pack is only available from the “PLUS” trim onwards, whereas the most affordable ë-C3 Aircross with the 44 kWh battery pack corresponds to the simpler “YOU” specification.
